VU game 1

Hendricks needs to lose that idiotic mullet. Granted, he is from the Panhandle and it might be a cultural thing, but this is not the 1993 Phillies and it's bush league.

funny to say the least, this game got out of control 11-2 now. top 7. At the arky series I sat down the right field line so I got to see him up close. He seems like a defensive leader out there. Always talking giving guys the 411 on where to throw it, etc. Seems real likable imo.

Granted nothing much went well for us tonight, but the whole thing seemed to get out of control on the 2 out fly that I still don't understand why we didn't catch. Just one of those nights to forget all the way around.

Oh, and the bases loaded, no out, didn't score a run fiasco.

Glad to hear a positive review on his defense and leadership ability. On the other hand, the Dutch Daulton look isn't quite as funny when you're barely hitting over the Mendoza line and striking out in over a third of your at bats.

I am beginning to wonder what type of hitting coach Andy Phillips is? Our bats have really been silenced lately and our approach at the plate is lousy. Sometimes it doesn't pay to hire your buddies. Just because you played in the bigs doesn't mean you can coach. I have yet to observe him giving any type of instruction at all with the boys. The bases loaded inning really killed us - in hindsight I would have pinch hit Kindred for Tullidge there-odds are he at least gets a deep ball to plate one run. Some of Gaspard's decision makings leave me puzzeld. Hopefully the guys will have a short memory and come back tomorrow with Morgan! Props to Vandy though - they are very good.

People have to realize Gorilla Ball is over with. These -3 bats are horrible, but as a pitcher that came up during the Gorilla Ball days I'm glad we have them. As was with another thread, we need to go back to Easton who has had the bat industry on lock forever it seems.

I'm not ready to throw in the towel though because we're losing to Vandy.

While it's disappointing to get manhandled like this, I said before this series that as long as we could avoid the sweep I would consider this a "successful" weekend. I still consider that to be true. Same goes for UF series on the road. If we can take one at each of those and keep winning our home series', we've got a pretty good chance to win the SEC West.

Come on JoJo, you know me. Mr. Positive here. I love the Dutch comparison, spot on. As far as the hitting goes, I can't argue with that. Now if he was popping one out every 15-20 at bats, that is a different story, but.....
