hopefully a future tide committment tonight in the 6A state champ. game. Commit Cory Reamer and hopefully future commit Bobby Greenwood square off tonight in a battle of two 14-0 teams. I believe you can watch this game on ABM 68? or channel 12 for me in T-Town.

What a Rush: Hoover can continue the building of a prep football dynasty by beating Prattville in tonight's 6A finals
Prattville (13-0) vs. Hoover (14-0), 7 o'clock tonight at Legion Field: Coach Rush Propst's Bucs, ranked No. 1 in the state and fifth in the nation in the StudentSports Fab 50, are known for offense, but defense has led the Hoover charge the last two weeks. While the Bucs have scored just 24 and 17 points in wins over Spain Park and Mountain Brook, the Hoover defense has held the Jaguars and Spartans to 7 and 3 points, respectively.

"Our offense gets a lot of credit, but last year what won the game for us? Our defense -- defending Patrick White," Propst said of his Bucs' 22-17 win over Daphne in the 2003 state final. "Anytime you get in the state championship game you'd better be good on defense and you'd better be able to run the ball a little bit because of the weather."

Prattville, ranked No. 2 in the state and 43rd nationally, plays a bit of defense itself. The Lions, led by 6A lineman of the year finalist Bobby Greenwood (who has 12 sacks), have posted shutouts the last two weeks in wins over Daphne and Carver-Montgomery. This week, they'll have to find an answer for a Hoover passing game led by 6A back of the year finalist Jarod Bryant, who has thrown for 2,860 yards and 28 touchdowns.

Cory Reamer is going to be a big-time player for Bama. I hope we get Greenwood also. Under the tutelage of our defensive coaches he would be very good.

Corey's has had 2 block punts, 1 punt block return for a TD, and he just had an Interception that he returned for around 40 yards. WOW

If Cory Reamer commits to Bama does does anybody
think that Coach Shula will allow him to be a starter
in the first game of the 2005 season.

With the speed that Reamer has if he commits to Bama
why then Coach Shula had better make him a starter. :biga2:

Cory Reamer is already committed to Bama. I think you meant to say if he signs with Bama in February. If that is the case I think it will be up to Cory whether or not he starts next year. If he is performing better than his competition Coach Shula with most assuredly start him. Coach Shula has already proven that he will start a freshman if he is the best player at his position.

Reamer is already a solid commitment to Alabama.

As for starting as a freshman, though, he'll have to earn that on the practice field. Remember, when he gets to college, most everyone else will be as fast as him. Reamer runs a 4.6. So does Juwan Garth, Terrence Jones and Demarcus Waldrop. And with Garth, Demeco Ryans and Freddie Roach returning next year, I don't see how he can snatch a starting job immediately.

Hoover 22, Prattville 7
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Hoover has a new slogan to go with its third straight Class 6A championship, courtesy of Cory Reamer: Punt, Prattville, punt.

Hoover (15-0) scored twice in the first quarter off Reamer's punt blocks and went on to beat Prattville 22-7 Thursday for the state's big-school crown, the Bucs' fourth title in five years.
Class 6A Stats

Given his size of 6'2" 215, he's built more like a SS at the moment...

Do the coach's plan on making Reamer a LB or a Safety?

However, you can bet he'll add another 10 to 15 pounds between now and a year from now, so I would think he'll be a linebacker and will redshirt as a freshman to bulk up and then we'll see him in that position. We are still loaded at LB, so redshirting him would be the best thing to do in my opinion...however, he'll be a hoss...no doubt! Great vision, great hands and great speed for a big kid. Hopefully he'll keep that speed as he gains weight.

Speed doesnt = Starter.

Knowledge of the game/play book working hard = starter

Hoover (Bama commitment Cory Reamer,) Oneonta Win State Championships
Cory Reamer’s two blocked punts, one return for touchdown and one interception in the Class 6A state championship game Thursday night at Legion Field led Hoover to a 22-7 win over Prattville and the Bucs third consecutive Alabama state title.

After blocking his second punt of the night, the 6-4, 205-pound Cory Reamer sprang to his feet, scooped the ball and raced 12 yards for Hoover’s second touchdown of the night. Reamer, a senior safety and Alabama commitment, blocked the punt after Prattville punter Josh DeBin mishandled the snap.

“I wasn’t even expecting it because we weren’t trying to block it,” Reamer said. “I was trying to get a block on one of their players so we could try to return it for a touchdown. I saw him out of the corner of my eye fumble the snap and I paid attention to him for the rest of the time. He tried to step too far and the pocket collapsed and just got my hands on it and picked it up and ran.”
Third and strong [Reamer named the MVP]
With a record first-day Super 6 crowd of 20,000 coming through the turnstiles at Legion Field, top-ranked Hoover's defense dismantled the Lions offense and kicking game, and the Jarod Bryant-led offense did the rest.

Bryant completed 12-of-23 passes for 208 yards and one touchdown and also rushed for 40 yards and another score. The defense, led by senior Cory Reamer's two blocked punts in the first quarter and a third-quarter interception, gift-wrapped nine Bucs points in the first half. The first block led to a 40-yard Chris Brown field goal, and Reamer returned his second block for a 12-yard touchdown.

Reamer, who also had four tackles, was named the MVP.

"It was a tremendous effort out of our defense," Propst said. "For this football team to lose the front seven (from last year's championship team) and come back in here and do what we did was phenomenal."
A familiar ring [Hoover's best team ever finished a perfect 15-0 and Bama commitment Cory Reamer was named MVP]
"We knew with 15-0 and the state championship, we've got a chance to be preseason ranked No. 1 in the nation next year, maybe No. 2," Propst said. "This has been the best group I've ever had as far as executing and doing the little bitty things right. If you could bottle that up and sell it, you could make a lot of money."

Hoover's defense bottled up Prattville (14-1) most of the night. The Lions had plenty of opportunities but also shot themselves in the foot, turning the ball over four times, scoring only once on three trips inside the Hoover 10 and getting two punts blocked by Reamer, who was named the game's Most Valuable Player.

The Bucs' defense held Prattville to only 191 yards of total offense, the lowest output of any 6A team in a state final since the Super 6 was established in 1996. Prattville managed only 17 yards on the ground.
