WCWS - Let's Roll BAMA

[Krymsonman]

Top of the 1st: Briski in the circle for BAMA. Starts off with a 3 pitch K, 1 down. Pop up to deep short - actually shallow left. 2 down. LF and SS need to communicate better. Ran into each other but held on to the ball. Briski gets another K on a change up, BAMA coming to bat in the bottom of the 1st.

Bottom of 1st: Young leads off with a base hit to CF. 1 on for BAMA. Wells singles to LF. 1st and 2nd for BAMA, no outs. Pupillo strikes out on a pitch way out of the zone, 1 down. Roman grounds out to 2b, 2 down. Runners advance to 2nd and 3rd. Need a base hit now. Giles singles to LF, Young scores, Wells to 3rd. Giles takes 2nd. 2nd and 3rd for BAMA, 2 down. Vandagriff grounds out 1st. BAMA leads 1-0 after 1 complete.

Top of 2nd: Briski gets a ground out to 3b, 1 down. Follows that with another K, 2 down. And gets another K looking. Half inning over. BAMA coming up in the bottom of the 2nd.

Briski is looking very sharp so far. She also has an umpire behind the plate that knows what strikes are and what balls are. Keep it up Jocelyn!!!

Bottom of 2nd: Taylor K's to lead off. 1 down. Hawkins grounds out to 2b, down. Good play by the second baseman. White grounds out to 2b, inning over. BAMA leads 1-0 after 2 complete. We need more runs against UCLA.

Top of 3rd: Briski in the circle. Fly ball to LF, 1 down. Base hit down the RF line, runner has a bad leg, and only makes it to 1st. 1 on for UCLA. Pinch runner coming in. Pop up behind the plate. Giles makes the catch, but Wells get a little too close and gets a bloody lip. Wells being attended to. 2 down. Top of the order now for UCLA. Briski gives up a 2 run shot to CF, UCLA now leads 2-1. Rise ball didn't rise enough. Their big HR hitter is coming to the plate. That was UCLA's 201 HR this year. And another HR to RF. UCLA is now up 3-1, 2 down. We have got to score runs in this game because that's how UCLA wins. Their pitching doesn't get you, they outscore you. Base hit to CF, 1 on, 2 down. We suddenly can't get anyone out. Almost another HR, but it was way foul. Briski gets a K, but 3 runs score on 2 homeruns. BAMA now down 3-1 after two and a half.

Bottom of 3rd: Young hits line drive off the pitcher, safe at 1st. 1 on for BAMA. Wells strikes out swinging. I wish we could get her bat doing like it was earlier this year. 1 down. Pupillo grounds out to 2b, out at first, Young advances to 2nd, 2 down. Roman at the plate. WP, Young takes 3rd. Roman strikes out on a ball up and away. BAMA does no damage, and is down 3-1 after 3 complete. I hope this moment isn't too big for us.

Top of 4th: Briski in the circle, needs a good inning. Pop up to 3rd, 1 down. Ground out to 3rd, 2 down. Well hit to LF, but foul. And a K to end the inning. BAMA down 3-1 and three and a half. We need to get the bats going now and give Briski some help!!

Bottom of 4th: Giles leads off with a pop up to CF, 1 down. Vandagriff bunts, safe at 1st, 1 on for BAMA, 1 down. Taylor pops out to SS, 2 down. I wish we could get her bat going again. Hawkins HBP, BAMA has 1st and 2nd, 2 down. White hits routine ground ball to SS, inning over. We can't get a timely hit to save our life right now. BAMA trails 3-1 after 4 complete. I also don't like the fact that BAMA is 4-11 in WCWS opening games. We need to get going.

Top of 5th: Briski in the circle. Base hit thru the left side, 1 on for UCLA. Briski gets a K for the first out. Top of the order up again. Fly ball to RF for out #2. UCLA's big basher coming to the plate. Blooper to SS for the 3rd out. Briski shuts them down again. Our bats need to wake up. Somebody call Jobu! BAMA still trails 3-1.

Bottom of 5th: Young walks on 4 pitches to lead off. I on for BAMA. Wells hits soft liner to SS, Young safe diving back to 1st, 1 down. Pupillo goes yard to RF!!! We're tied at 3 now! Roman K's. 2 down. Giles walks, 1 on, 2 down for BAMA. Vandagriff doubles to right center, Giles has to hold at 3rd. 2nd and 3rd for BAMA, 2 down. Taylor hits a scorching line drive to LF, but right at the left fielder. Inning over, but BAMA ties it at 3 after five complete.

Top of the 6th: Briski still in the circle: Fly out to RF for out number 1. Preuitt now in RF. ground ball up the middle for a base hit. 1 on for UCLA. K for Briski, 2 down. Ground ball to 2nd, out at 2nd base. Inning over. We're still tied at 3. We need some timely hitting BAMA!!

Bottom of 6th: Hawkins pops out to foul ground behind 1st, 1 down. White grounds to 2nd, safe at 1st on wide throw. Young drops a line drive into LF, 1st and 2nd for BAMA, 1 down. Wells goes yard to RC for a 3 run shot. BAMA now up 6-3!

Bottom of 6th continued: Pupillo pops out to SS, 2 down. Roman lines out to straight CF, inning over, but BAMA now leads 6-3 after six complete. We need to get 3 quick outs to advance!! Come on Jocelyn!!!

Top of 7th: Briski in the circle: Pop out to 2nd base for the first out. Next batter HBP. We're talking a tiny little nick. 1 on for UCLA. We need to bear down. Briski gets another K, 2 down. I think that was K #9. Top of the order now for UCLA. Ground ball to 3rd, out at 1st. BAMA wins 6-3!! BAMA will play the winner of Nebraska-Arkansas on Saturday. What a game!! ROLL TIDE!!!

Just a note. Briski gave up the back to back dingers that gave UCLA 3 runs. But in the long run, she held the #1 offense in the country to 3 runs. UCLA was averaging almost 11 runs a game this year. As one announcer said, UCLA doesn't have much pitching so they have to outscore you. Great job in the circle today by Briski!!!
