But, the analogy can apply to everyday situations, and is a good example of not being afraid to take on a monumental task.

The message of David and Golliath is not so much as God performing the miracle Himself as God revealing the miracle of faith that is within each of us. Now, I'm not saying that God didn't perform that miracle...just that He wants us to meet each challenge with faith and confidence and to give our 100% best.

I was just struck kinda funny by the analogy. Don't get me wrong, I pray Bama wins and I ask God but I also know there are a lot of good Aubarn fans praying as well. It's not a matter really for God, it's like you said, a question of one's faith. I didn't mean any insult or anything by it and I didn't take your response that way either. I was just clarifying my point.

LSU's offense scored 19 on BAMA's D, most late in the game after the D spent way too much time on the field because of three and outs by the offense. So, the only way the barn scores 30+ is if they force turnovers or our offense can't move the ball on their D, both of which are very possible. However, I say they don't get those breaks. I say for once we get the breaks.

This game will not be a blow out.
 
Can't believe peeps are picking the Barn to steamroll us. All we need are a couple of fortuitous turnovers and we win the game.

98% of the time in this game, and in other rivalry games, the favored team wins. End of story. Now, in this series the underdog usally makes it a tighter game that expected, but the favored team almost always comes out on top. This one won't be any different, but I'm afraid the Aubs will pull away in the fouth.

Jason, Caddy....meet our defense.

Guys, it is the Iron Bowl. I will give congrats to my Barn fans if they make it to #1 but I am still not convinced they are that good. The pressure is all on them this week, we aren't expected to be in the game. Having said that, they have to win big to keep up their point standings in the BCS just to have a shot at #1 vs # 2. If they didn't leap frog OU last week after GA, beating a unranked team just by a few points isn't going to help their cause. Yes, they are undefeated in the SEC, but look at the time of year and how they won. LSU gave them that game gift wrapped with a bow. With the other teams in the SEC, depends on what team showed up each week....even we have had that happen.

My guess is that if we can shut RB down, keep Caddy in the backfield and make Jason feel the pressure to throw bad passes, we have a chance.

My predictions is a field goal battle:

We match up decently with Auburn. Our defense versus their offense will be a clash of the titans! The question will be our Offense versus their defense. If Coach Shula calls 30 some odd plays for Darby to run up the middle for one yard per carry, then we are doomed. In order to take advantage of Auburns blazing speed on D, they will need to do alot of reverses, misdirections, and traps. Hopefully a few more play action passes. Pennington really needs to work on selling his fakes. Limit turnovers and play lights out on special teams... then Bama may just sneak out with a victory.

You people picking Auburn to win by more than two scores have no clue about the history of this series. Ya hear me? NO CLUE.

They couldn't score from inside the 5 on four straight tries in 1984. And that was with Bo Jackson. Bo came back in 1985 and watched Van Tiffin sail in the game winner. That was on Bo's Birthday, too. Happy Birthday, Bo!

The last time Auburn won by more than 10 points was 1969. Yes, 1969.

In even numbered years since the series resumed in 1948, Alabama has been the home team. Alabama is 18-10 and the average score is 26 to 10. When Auburn does win in even years, the average margin of victory is only 9 points. Take out the pre-Bryant years and that goes down to 5 points.

Auburn does not blow Bama out at home. They haven't done it since 1956, and they're not about to start now.

My opinion...

Alabama keeps this one close, maybe even has the lead at the half. It all boils down to our OL performing better than it did against LSU. If some holes open up, and Darby gets moving, then we can stay on the field. Problem is, we no longer have the depth to hand off the ball 40-50 times in a game. SP is hurt. McCain is hurt. Hudson and Castille have both been out.

My opinion? We want a chance to win the game?

Run the option with Prothro under center. Cycle QBs. Make the Auburn D wonder what we're doing on every single play. If we have the players to do it. Heck, line up the WRs in the backfield. Use Justin Britt as a FB. Or one of our backup OL guys. Line up Juwan Garth at TB.

We CAN win. I think we'll lose it in a close one, due to it being Bryant-Denny, and our D. I also think that the players are going to remember what happens this Saturday for next year, and don't be surprised if they hang 30 on 'em.

Auburn's got one shot (this year) at greatness. Then they drop considerably in talent level.

Picking an Alabama win doesnt make anyone a better fan than someone who picks a Booger victory. Some folks like myself use reality, others make their picks based on emotion, like a woman. But thats cool, to each his (or her) own. Its all guessing either way you look at it.

As far as the above '56 reference. Its intresting that the last time the Booger Eaters 'claim' a NC was in '57. Maybe every 50 years or so they can get lucky on all these stats. So, I'll give 'em this one, as long as we don't have to hear about it again until 2054.

I don't pick Bama because of emotion. I'm not a "Girlie Man!" :D

I'm pickin'em because I'm a loyal Tide fan and I just can't bring myself to do otherwise. There should be a rule on these 'pickem' threads: You can NOT pick the other team. Your 'pick' is for the score, only. ;)

Call me optimistic. C Kines and the defense will play lights-out, putting together their season's best game. Barring ludicrous calls from the officials, we win the field position battle, thus keeping our O in position to do good things. I think we'll get help from special teams in this game via a punt return for a score (or inside the red zone) and maybe a blocked punt or two.

I won't concede defeat to the Barn until it's decided on the field!

We get a break finally..... Carnell muffs a punt and we take it in for 6 with Darby 3 plays later from the 7 on the right hash.... Harper picks off Campbell with 36 seconds to go to seal the deal.....

I still believe in these guys, disappointed at times yes, but I will always believe.

I hope you guys show up Saturday a bit more optimistic, they need our support! If you aim at nothing, you're bound to hit it!
