That's scary! Any time the NCAA rules committee gets involved, I cringe.
Quite frankly, the rule is pretty clear in saying that if a game is halted after 5 complete innings (4 1/2 if the home team is ahead) it is a complete game. Also, if an inning is in progress, you revert to the score at the end of the last completed inning. It doesn't look good.
About the only thing in our favor is another provision in the same rule that says that if a game is delayed by inclement weather, not less than 30 minutes must elapse before the game may be called. I'm not sure, but I don't think they waited the full 30 minutes before they sent everyone home. This may be why the NCAA is going to weigh in.
Who knows what the NCAA will do. They may order that the game be replayed in its entirety at Alf Stadium on Melmac.
