We need to give Oats whatever he wants

Seriously. This man is an elite head coach and has elevated the program to an elite status. Do we realize that this team is in discussion for a number 1 seed for the second time in program history? The first time was under Oats two seasons ago. He can recruit, develop talent, win the conference, and has shown he can make it to the big dance.

I will be upset if our administration and AD don't do everything it takes to keep him around. It's not a matter of 'if' but when he'll win a national title.

not that surprising. I am sure there are other basketball schools that want him.
I know anything can happen in sports but at this point I feel like he's a 'Bama Man' and as long as we continue to give him what he feels he needs to run the program at a high level he'll stay put.

I know many feel already that by making a FF run is addition to making us a perennial Top 5 program has moved him to #1 on our All-Time list and I agree with that view.

He's going to eventually win a NC and I think it will be here.

Well, he raising his family in Tuscaloosa and know for a fact his daughters love it here especially his youngest (my niece is her best friend). I know that coaches’ families move regularly but it seems he is invested in other ways in Tuscaloosa other than Bama basketball. He may move on one day but also feel like he wants to win a national championship here and the program’s GOAT.

Failure to construct a world class facility could easily become the decision that causes coach Oats to leave.

Just in case you were not aware:

They have already broken ground on a new facility. To use your words, I do expect it to be "world class". :)

In my opinion only, this facility will have more of an impact on players and coaches than a new "fans" facililty.

Wasn’t Oats the one that said to put that on the back burner and focus on NIL?
I believe that is correct.

I think the arena is more of a fan concern. I haven't been to a ball game in T-town in years, but CC bothers me to no end as I watch on TV. For instance, where the press row is and how many games start with only half the seats filled near the court in the non-student section.

FWIW, the students have fully bought into the program and fill their allotted seats. I just wish the season ticket holder with the best seats would.

FWIW, as I watched the game at Miss. St. last week I couldn't help but be jealous when they pulled out and did a full view of "the Hump" and its seating arrangement.

Only thing we can do to fix the student seating arrangement is email or talk with Byrne. I've emailed him beforehand on his UA email (which I'm assuming falls on deaf ears) but I've met him at plenty of lunch ins and other events. Byrne is an amazing AD and a great person. He really needs our fans to support basketball in the way we support football though.

And for anyone who says "well I just don't like basketball" or "football is way more important", you're doing a disservice to everyone involved at UA. For one, the coaches and players chose Alabama to better themselves. They pour the same effort, blood, and tears into the program you see football players do. As fans we need to make them feel appreciated by attending the events with Oats, packing Coleman, providing an atmosphere you would want recruits to play for, and supporting the team on the road.

It’s the NBA for sure. WHEN he wins a championship HERE, we will have a hard time keeping the allure of the NBA away from coach Oats. Similar to Donovan. I think it’s every coaches dream even when it doesn’t work out like with coach Saban, they still can’t pass up the opportunity.

I'm assuming those are rhetorical questions. Of course we realize those things.

You might want to look up the threads on other teams pursuing him and the Coleman replacement thread. All of these things have been discussed in detail over the last year. I'm mainly pointing to those threads because at this point, there isn't really any new information since then, so those discussions are still relevant.

I don't think CNO has to win a championship at Bama for the NBA to know he's legit. He runs a very NBA type offense and they know it. Plus, he demands defense too!

I think the thing that Bama offers CNO, that has nothing to do with basketball, is the lifestyle of a "small town," family friendly place like T-town.
