Recap of points made:
1. Ole Miss is ahead of us because of "head to head" game.
2. Ole Miss shouldn't be ahead so because they lost to LSU.
3. Oregon plays in a weak conference and shouldn't be ahead of us. (Point beat into the ground)
4. If Oregon wins out, then they will continue to be ahead of us.
5. Bama just needs to take care of business the rest of the year and everything will be OK.
6. Injury Criteria shouldn't matter.
7. Not having the "Style Points" criteria is good. (Also known as "running up the score")
8. It is better lose games early and not late. (Not sure if that is right though since it was early in the season for the other team also!)
9. Oregon has better quality wins than Bama, until Stanford beats them.
Did I miss anything?

Ohio state isnt out yet, and could make a move if they beat Mich St and then play a top 10 nebraska on championship weekend. I was kinda hoping they would lose to penn st and beat mich st to eliminate the big 10 all together because nebraska would have to hope for a 2007 ending to get in. I think the Big 10 is out but they do pose a somewhat concern due to the uncertainty of the committee in future weeks to come. It should be intresting going forward.
so bama beating msu<osu beating the other msu? quality of wins, body of work.

In the last, I don't know, five years, can anyone point to a single example of public bias against us (other than citing anecdotal talk show hosts who hate us)? The way some are talking, it is like it is obvious that everyone hates Bama and would do everything to keep us out of the playoff except people affiliated with the university.

- in 2013, most of the media was publicly saying that even after getting beat by Auburn, we were still the best team in the country. Both the Harris Poll and the USA Today coaches poll had us a convincing #3 over Big 10 Champ and one-loss Michigan State.

- in 2012, we were third in the computers but again a convincing second in the human polls over one loss, PAC-12 champ Oregon. The Big 12 and PAC 12 champs both had one loss and the human voters propelled us into a second national championship in a row even though the computers disagreed.

- In 2011, we were third in the computers, and the human polls voted us second even though it would mean the national championship would be a rematch. The Big 12 and PAC-12 champs both had one loss and the human polls still voted us into the rematch even though the computers disagreed.

In the last three years, the human polls have favored us every year over the computers who actually gave the edge to PAC-12, Big 12, and Big 10 champs. And we only won the SEC in one of those years.

The defensive mentality that permeates a lot of Alabama natives - and rightly so, we've earned the right to be defensive - sometimes manifests itself in a near-martyr complex.

We should realize the voters usually like us.

I'm sorry. I have stayed pretty quiet on this one, but Auburn at number three is about as stupid a "anything" as I've ever seen.
They played a Miss. State team that made FIVE turnovers and still beat them by two touchdowns.
They then came from behind to beat a three loss South Carolina team 42-35???
And they're the number three team in the nation?
I think what ticks me off more than anything is that nobody gives us credit for beating West Virginia.
I haven't even heard a commentator mention their name when discussing our overall resume, and they could win the Big 12.
Finally, if "head to head" is all that and a bucket of chicken, Arizona should be ranked ahead of Oregon, and LSU should be ranked ahead of Ole Miss.
The Bengals lost to number one and three. Why should they be ranked way below the Ole Miss team they beat?
A committee of supposed know it alls, will never top a coaches poll.
They can tweak it all they want.
I don't like it.

Cant wait until the rest of the games are played out. I believe we will win out. The closest game in the last part of the season will be the LSU game. If/when we win out, we are in. We are in for some good games in the next few weeks.

I think we'll blow LSU out of Tiger Stadium, win a hard fought game against MSU, and then beat Auburn pretty darn good.
Absolutely nothing about LSU scares me. They will not line up and run against us, and they can't throw.
State and Auburn are both much better football teams, as they've both proven against LSU.

Which amazes me.
There's nothing we can do but win our games.
But, I don't want to hear about the committee being objective.
Auburn 3 and Ole Miss 4 did me in.

I tried to stay away, honestly. But thank you.
There's a lot of football left to be played, and that's kinda where I am right now.
But I can't help but open my mouth when I feel an injustice going on.
Let's just kick butt the rest of the year, and take the worry out of it!!!

Yes, you did. You only said each point once. You need to repeat each one several dozen more times in separate posts. Also, mix in a few ALL CAPS and exclamation points. And you don't seem nearly outraged enough.

That is all.

I understand what your saying but let me propose a theory to you that may be intended or unintended on the part of the committee.

Pretty much all of your power 5 teams will have between 2-5 "impact game" opportunities. It's what you do, or have done, with those games that weighs heavily on the strength of your season combined with the basic eyeball test. LSU has had 3 such opportunities. They are 1-2. Alabama has had 2 such opportunities. We are 1-1 with at least 2 shots left. This ranking sets up to allow the teams with opportunities ahead of them to play their way in while teams that have not capitalized on those opportunities are in the back of the pack. ND had 2 opportunities. They really don't have anything left in front of them and therefore, have little shot at playing their way in unless everyone else in front of them collapses.

I kind of believe that the opportunities in front of us played into our #6 ranking as much the WVU win and the close loss at #3 with injuries factored in. Almost as if we got something of a pass the UM loss because we still had chances in front of us (AU, State). If our remaining schedule featured lower ranked teams we might have dropped to 9-11.

I can actually appreciate this if it did indeed factor in to their thinking.

If what you're saying is real, then I agree. But I'll skeptically believe it when I see it.
It's wait and see.
The key is just to win our games.

I still believe that the bracket will work itself out to include only one SEC team. The SEC teams at the top are going to snipe one another out of consideration. #3 and #4 are playing this week and I think two losses just about ends playoff considerations barring 2007 caliber chaos. I think any 1-loss SEC champion makes it in but a second 2-loss SEC team will be hard to wiggle in over two 1-loss champions in any other conference.

So Auburn or Ole Miss is done after this weekend. Alabama has two tough games back-to-back. We could put MSU in a tough position with one loss (still think they'd be 3 or 4 if they loss). An LSU or MSU loss ends it for us. Even if Bama and Auburn get to the IB with 1-loss, a loss would end it for either team. The caveat is if a 2-loss SEC west team can make the SECCG and win over a 1-loss UGA.

We're probably gonna see:

1. FSU
2. SEC Champion
3. Oregon
4. Michigan State

It's not at all implausible that Bama and Ole Miss could win out, or that MSU and Auburn could win out. In either case, two SEC teams would likely make the cut.
