We have conditioned ourselves to accept the fact we would pull it out no matter what the situation is. In the past we thought we would lose.
If the nonsense offside call weren't called against us on the punt I am 99% sure that McCarron would have led us to a td. Ah it frustrates me knowing we never got the chance

Whether best or not this has to go down as one of my favorite Bama teams ever. What fighting spirit, never say die attitude, etc. This team had it by the bushel. The way they fought back against aTm; you can definitely say time just ran out. CNS says they exceeded expectations and admires their qualities. Kirby says theyve been his favorite defense and have a chip on their shoulders. I love this team and what they've accomplished. I think Bear would've loved this group of overachievers; reminds me of some of his teams.

I don't think measuring by yards is a great idea. Oregon was less than a foot from being undefeated.

I weight things not just toward accomplishments, but the challenges conquered. Thus for my money 2009 is actually one of the greatest teams all time because of the quality of opponent faced throughout the year. That team met EVERY SINGLE CHALLENGE and came out victorious, most importantly the challenges faced were greater than any other team save perhaps one(iirc USC faced a slightly tougher gauntlet in 2005) in the BCS era.
IIRC, Alabama was #2 (behind #1 Mississippi State) in the SoS rankings for 2009 so I agree that the 2009 team would rank as the best of our three recent national championship teams.

I just think the scary part about this year, was that it was supposed to be a "Rebuilding" year, so we exceeded expectations this year.

I think the 2012 offense was clearly the best of the 3, but I thought this year's team was the least of the 3 because of the defense. I don't think 2009 or 2011 gave up 400 yards on multiple occasions.

Re: Were it not for the Texas A&M loss,I think we'd be talking about this being the

Last Year's team was better imo. That's why not winning the SEC hurt so much, it was like a missing ring tied to that fish bowl game of the century with 5 missed FG's and a jacked up team held hostage all week.

I would say that last year's LSU was much better than this years ND, their team speed was slower than any team in our division.

But that aside, Alabama made a bigger statement this year with the crushing of one of our most hated peers (former Peers) and going back to back. I believe that losing all those player might have helped this team stay focused. It might have been harder to repeat with the underclassman coming back. Rebuilding may have been the key.

I do think there was more talent on the 2011 championship team, but I think the results bear out that this was a better team overall. Our defensive stats weren't quite as good as last year, but our offense was substantially better. There were only really 3 games all year that weren't blow outs and those happened after we had some critical injuries. If Fowler, Bell and White don't get hurt, we never have a close game IMO.

Except for the Tenn game.

We were mentally and physically fatigued after the LSU game but give A&M credit for jumping on us early and often...we pretty much knew we had wrapped up the West and we just flat dug ourselves a hole we couldn't get out of...

BTW, we should've ran the ball 4 times instead of trying to pass on that last series :)

Have to agree re fatigue from LSU game. Have to give A&M their due, they certainly thumped us hard in the 1st Qtr. Maybe a running play in the last series would have won the game for the Tide but that didn't happen.

Have to say I'm really pleased we get A&M in the second game in 2013. Yes, we will have played VaTech the week before, but the lads should still be fresh for the second game. I suspect CNS will have a game plan just for Johnny Football and his pals!
