3-2 finish

they have to beat so miss and miss st. i think they can beat tenn. the ut qb's will make mistakes, can the Bama offense take advantage or the defense start to score points. i don't think we'll get enough play from our QB's or young WRs to hang with lsu or auburn either one.

One of the reasons that we were so disappointed when we lost the two games this season was because we won the first three. We felt that we were better than we really were, especially with Brodie's injury.

Guess what, we are at that crossroads again. We just blew out KY, and lost Hudson. We will probably beat USM, not necessarily because we are better, but because thet just lost their QB.

Be careful not to get your hopes up so high that losses in all three games mentioned in the header becomes a disappointment. We are not nearly deep enough to expect to win these games. We might win one (or more) but it is unfair to put that kind of pressure on this team or these coaches.

I'm going to tell you guys something.

I'm impressed with Spencer Pennington. Period.

He suffered a seperated shoulder at the same time Brodie got hurt last year, and dropped to third on the depth chart.

I thought maybe he just didn't have it after his game with S.C. last week where the threw those bad picks. What a difference a week makes.

Kudos to him for keeping his head up and staying focused. Give him a couple of more games, and I think he'll finish the year strong.

Also, good to see Guillon give Spencer parise for his performance, too. That's being a good sport and coming together as a team.
Amen, I think Spencer is returning to form. I wouldnt be suprised if we upset UcheaT or LSU. Auburn on the other hand, I am not sure about. I will still be full of Bama cheer.

I think if Bama wins one of those three and has victories over USM and Miss St, then this season will have been a complete success in my opinion considering expectations. It'd give Shula his "signature" win and a nice bowl game to boot.

Let's not forget who Bama plays this Saturday. USM aint no easy walk thru the park; plus, they are undefeated, ranked and have a better defense that Bama has faced this year. ONE game at a time.

Right now we're not good enough to beat any of them. But you never know what might happen. There's a lot of football to be played before we face LSU and AU, and there are upsets every weekend. When was the last time Bama pulled a major upset? I think we're definitely due.
Winning one of those three would be a major upset. It is possible though. LSU is not the juggernaut it appeared in the preseason. But they might as well be because LSU will be tough for us to beat. The Tenn game might be close for 3 quarters if for no other reason than our hatred of Fulmer, but this season they will prove too deep and too tough I fear. Awburn is good right now. They might be good at the end of the season too, but thats not a guarantee. Seems like that school cannot handle success. Injuries, politics or something else might derail their season.

Lack of depth is what is killing us. We play ok for about half of a game, but depth issues take its toll toward the end. Time will take care of that problems. IMO, Southern Miss and Miss. State will be our best hope for Bama to go bowling this year and even then it will probably be a "Rice-A-Roni" bowl. If we lose one of those two games, we must rely on upsetting LSU, Tenn or Awburn.

Hate to say it but I think Auburn is really focused this year! They are being mighty quite around here. That makes me nervous. They even send their players out of town before the games to get them away from pre-game distractions. Some are staying in Lagrange, Ga. and I even heard Roanoke, AL. They have alot of time to think and focus before the games.
That kind of focus is not something they are known for. I am hoping that AK. will take them and UGA. They really haven't played anyone but LSU and Tenn but they dominated Tenn! It's going to be interesting.

As an LSU fan....

Depends which LSU team shows up, the one who lost to Auburn by 1 and went into the swamp and completely dominated them (We gave them 14 points with a 5 and 3 yard TD drives) in the stats and won.

Or the team that melted down against UGA and did all it could to lose to Oregon State...
LSU improved steadily as the season went on last year and I think the pattern is repeating. The defense is very strong and the offense is improving. All three road games against ranked opponent are behind them. I think LSU wins out from here with three home games remaining.

I think both Tennessee and Auburn have major games against ranked opponents ahead and will face more losses. They also lack the depth of LSU and a few key injuries could ruin their season. One of these teams will stumble and I think Bama has a legitimate shot at catching them at a good time and pulling off the upset.

I would really be worried if the injury bug was hitting the Defense but they have remained fairly healthy. Despite the injuries, the major reasons we fell to Arkansas and USC was penalties, turnovers, and poor field position. It wasn't because we were beaten into submission by a more talented team. If we can eliminate mistakes, I say we at least stand a chance against all 3 with the best possibility coming against LSU.

Let's just take it.......

one game at a time. Beat USM. Then focus on UT. Tnen the next, then the next. All that being said, all of the remaining games are definitely winnable. There are no "unbeatables" left. We have the tools, we just need to use the right ones at the right times. RTR!

The last two game we've avg. around 70 yards passing so if we can hold on to our rushing avg. and find another 100 yards passing.........may be win one of the three final games, likely UT. Without some extra yardage passing we could lose 4 of the next five.

Someone alluded

to depth issues. There is no doubt that we are respected around the league. Our starters are as talented as anyone, and maybe more talented than most. But in the second half, we have a tough time against big-time opponents due to depth. Not coaching. Not lack of effort. Just the shear fatigue of SEC football wears a body down. This can be relieved on our defense if the offense can find yardage in the first half of games. Give us points, keep us in the game. Sustained drives. Then, in the second half, with a lead or a close game, our defense can be ready to play. But slow starts will kill us every time.

I think Saturday, and for the rest of the season, the Offensive line is the most critical part of our game. If they do their job, and they have most of the year, we can have some pocket passing completions, and run the ball effectively. This will lighten the load on everyone. The OL is where it all starts for these last 5.

In my heart I always think we can win the next game, especially if its Auburn. But my head tells me that sweeping UT, LSU and Auburn is probably beyond our reach this year. Barring any further injury to a key player, I think we have a decent shot at picking off one of them, and might get two if we're lucky. We are way overdue to pull an upset. This isn't one of the great Bama teams, but it could get good enough to earn back some respect.
