Coach DeBoer's demeanor on the sideline had me a little concerned the first few games. But then the Dawgs showed up to the house, and BAM! Holy cow, it was like watching Coach Stallings getting in the ear of the refs and Coach Saban getting ready for a replacement set of headphones...šŸ˜
To be fair, that was pretty much his first encounter with SEC officiating in a game that mattered...

there you go. thinking like an architect. well, landscape architect, but architect at heart
As a ā€œcreative-designerā€ myself (albeit, within a totally different discipline than you) my mind immediately began looking for a possible solution...but I couldnā€™t help but wonder what your mind would come up with.
Ledsteplinā€˜s idea is fantastic šŸˆ

I agree with you about their importance, but those guys built a very nice home in the woods. Bryant and Saban built it into the Biltmore Estate. Roll Tide!

Speaking of which, I want to send out more prayers for all of the people affected by Hurricane Helene. The devastation in some areas is unfathomable. šŸ™
Wade doesnā€™t get nearly the credit he deserves. He built the foundation from ā€œjust anotherā€ program Into the Southā€™s crown jewel. Alabama had never won a championship of any kind. He won a Conf title in 2 years and a NC in 3 years, winning a total of 3 NCs and 4 Southern Conf championships in 8 years. Won those NCs at a greater rate than Bryant (6 in 25) or Saban (6 in 17).

Heā€™s even more important than they to Southern football because of the times - that first Rose Bowl was less than 60 years after Appomattox and because things moved much slower in those days, it was like 30 years today. 60 years ago Alabama beat Neb 39-28 in the Orange Bowl to win the first AP post bowl NC. In 1925 the South was considered too stupid and incompetent to compete with schools outside of it. In many circles the talk was a 50 point blowout. Alabama changed all of that. Though regionalism has lost much of its importance, it continues to matter, in fact, still ā€œit just means moreā€ down here.

Yes, Wallace Wade has been criminally ignored. One can only guess that it was because of the acrimonious parting. IMO, that should be laid aside. He gave birth to Alabama and Southern football greatness.

BDS should be WSBDS because he is on the same level with Saban and Bryant in terms of importance to Alabama football.

Kalen DeBoer was my first choice when the search started. I had followed him from afar when he was at Washington and his overall coaching record is what initially caught my eye. But when I started listening to people like Joel Klatt, Urban Meyer, Rick Nuheisal, and several other analysts talk about what type of offensive genius he was, I knew that's who I wanted.

In addition: When I saw he was 4-0 against Sarkisian and Dan Lanning, I was stoked when we got him! Now he's 5-0 against Sark, Lanning and Bowl Cut! RTR!!!
Actually, he is:

3-0 vs Lanning
2-0 vs Riley
2-0 vs Sarkisian
1-0 vs Smart

When I investigated CKD upon CNSā€™ retirement I was a bit put off by what I considered a ā€œtouchy feelyā€ approach. But after seeing that he was highly competitive, very aggressive, and physical in his approach, of course along with his record, he was my hope too. I also changed my view of the ā€œsofterā€ approach and realized it was best if sincerely employed.

Dang, it's better than I thought! LOL! The timing of CNS's retirement (since he was close to retirement anyway) was perfect. I'm not sure if we get DeBoer a year earlier or a year later. Great timing.

There are five spots, all currently filled: Wade, Thomas, Bryant, Stallings, and Saban.

I'm sure they can come up with something, but it seems like they would have designed the space to allow for future expansion. Maybe they have a plan.

Has anyone checked the prophecies of Nostradamus to see if there is any mention of this? ;)

Just to go back to watch CKDeB said.

He is really saying the right things, but more than that. He is walking the walk so far. You gotta respect that. He's well liked and he gives respect to what came before he. He's is a gentler coach, but he carries a big stick in this case. I can tell he's a player's coach, but he reaches them and again says the right thing to show he feels the heartbeat of the players, program, school, and fanbase. I hope he wants to stay for a long time.

The ascent of CKD on the national stage interestingly started with the debut of Ted Lasso...

Yeah, you hate to lose Saban, for a lot of reasons, but his eventual retirement was inevitable. We may not win the SEC or a national title this year, but I feel very strongly that we've got the right guy in place for the next 15+ years assuming he doesn't get NFL fever.

He created Alabama and Clemson!
Close. It was Duke, whom he took to the Rose Bowl twice, both 4 point losses. At Duke, after two ordinary years 12-6-2, the next 9 years he went 73-13 overall, 44-3 in the Southern Conf winning 6 titles, finishing 11, 20, 8, 3, 18, 2 in the first six AP polls.

He then went into the service at age 49 in 1941. When he exited the service he returned to Duke in 1946 but it was not the same going 25-17-4 over his next 5 years. He then became the Southern Conf commissioner from 1951 until 1960.

Dukeā€™s stadium is named after him. He was voted into the college football HOF in 1955.

True! Duke. I had a brain lapse on that and I've got Clemson on my mind for some reason! Probably because they are going to curb stomp FSU this weekend.
