Do we have to take 2 from MSU to assure a spot in the SEC tourney and NCAA tourney (maybe not even that?) Starkville isn't an easy place to win. We have the tiebreaker over Arkansas, and that's all. Will Tank be relegated to the pen? I wouldn't mind seeing our rotation be Carter-Woody-Norris/Johnson, just for some fresh arms, but that's jmo. You won't win too many series in the SEC only scoring eight total runs, so we need to jumpstart the bats. Travis seemed to be the only guy who showed up each day. Maybe we should switch up the lineup a bit?

Lyons
Rice
Redding

But that is just me. MSU has two of the better pitchers in the SEC, so getting the bats started is much easier said than done.

If we finish 14-16 and get a 7 or 8 seed in the tourney, would we have to win a few games to get an NCAA birth?

Just for fun lets all put our batting order and pitcher for what we would do tomorrow night if we were the coach for fun, don't explain why, just post. There should be twenty or thirty posts on this one.

38, do you think there is a chance Jared might start this weekend? He's pitched better than just about anyone lately (save Brent Carter) and hasn't been used lately. He deserves it. RTR
 
Bo, I try to stay away from that subject. I'm not clear as to the whole mindset going on. All I know is here's a guy that's 1.80 in his last 15 SEC innings and chasing the appearance record, and he doesn't see the mound against South Carolina.

Maybe we could try something a little new and use Tank in later innings? Just a thought. RTR
 
38 special....
arkansas has always been a tough place for the tigers. we are playing for a regional and a super regional host site (we need to win the regional first). i don't think lsu is going to "tank" the series, we have team goals to play for. i think the days of experimiting (sp) with other players and NOT having one of the top 8 national seeds locked up are a thing of the past. just my thoughts.
one yr comes to mind that apparently lsu 'thought' they had one of the eight national seeds locked up and they tested other pitchers and they got burned - just don't remember the yr.

I know that LSU will not intentionally tank the series. I talk to them daily. However, they do have a shallow staff right now, and will not risk Pettit and Bumstead throwing 100+ pitches to win the series. I can't say that I blame them.

I understand what you are saying 38, but I like the fact that he is getting on base. It doesn't matter if he is hitting like a three if no one is on ahead of him. Of course, after the first inning, it really doesn't matter if he is one or three, the guys ahead of him need to get on base.
 
That's the problem bamajake, he's getting on base and staying there. Maybe if we shook it up a little, we wouldn't leave so many runners. I don't know, after tonight, I'm at a loss for any solutions.
