What game do you think the program really turned the corner under Coach Saban?

I don't know that we have. Clemson?...maybe, UGA?....we lost the second half, a theme that is recurrent under CNS, with maybe Florida being the exception., but then there was texas, a wounded team on the ropes., still no killer instinct.
I believe the team will improve and only get better the next 3-4 years. and will developed that dominant, 4th quarter take no prisoners defensive killer instinct they had against Florida. thats the real corner I am looking for. the one the other team turns down, a dark alley in the bad section of the stadium .

Let me see if i got this straight....Alabama goes 14-0 and wins the National championship...and your not sure if alabama has turned the corner from losing games in the fourth quarter and being a terribly undisciplined team......i really don't know what you really realistically looking for because im not sure it exist. :conf2: Oh and the Texas game was one game...ok...one game where bama dropped their guard when they got a big lead...bama was kind of wounded too with Gmac's broken ribs so bama really couldn't do everything on offense it wanted to do.

:BigA:The day we turned the corner was the day Saban stepped on campus! It has been the process from the beginning until now ! We have not seen anything but continued improvement from day one! The process continues! ROLL TIDE!

I would have to say the day Cody stepped on the field, which finally took the governor off of Nick Saban's defense for good.

It's the most glaring change that I have seen since Coach Saban has been here. His performance in the Clemson game was so profound that he became a top 2 or 3 fan favorite after his first game!

No back gained 100 yards during his 12 starts his first season and started the year as Defensive player of the week and ended it as consensus All-American.

It disturbs me when people make out of shape jokes about him. It's hard to cover up rapid weight loss and he has strength where it counts. Powerful legs that give him the appearance of being light on his feet, strong arms and big powerful hands. I could care less about a gut or flab on the chest.

I'll miss Cody the most this year. His combination of heart and ability are hard to replace.

so you explained Texas by injury, guess you haven't been watching the whole saban era. what about Colorado, Tennessee, Georgia. or even Texas, GMac doesn't play D. the defense should never let up, regardless of the score, and I think CNS will agree. It is possible.
The question wasn't 'from losing games in the fourth quarter'. it was 'turned the corner', which is subjective. I still see things that could/would lead to a loss if not corrected. especially to a quality opponent.

2007 Independence Bowl. The team stuck together, finished the season on a high note, and created the momentum for the 2008 season. Many of the seniors of the 2008 team pointed to the practices leading up to that bowl as the moment the culture around the team started to change.

I've actually thought about this question for several days. Here is my opinion. I believe the Alabama program turned when we lost to Utah. At that time we had some who were buying into the system some and some that were not buying in much. Losing to Florida was not a shocker, they were a great team and the eventual national champs. But in my opinion the humiliating beat down applied by Utah was the turning point. After that game I think the players truly understood the difference between a good team and a champion. From that point on they started doing everything like a champion and eventually they became one.

If we had not lost that game I believe the players would have sold themselves on the idea that they were closer to where they needed to be than they really were. I see Auburn doing this right now. They have sold themselves on the idea that they are just 2 minutes from a championship team and that's simply not the case.

I respect your opinion. I just wonder who in the world would be a quality opponent under this criteria.

First of all i have been watching the whole saban era.....its just not realistic to think bama is never going to struggle no matter how good of a team they become.......alabama beat 10 bowl teams last year and 3 teams that finished in the top 10.....i say alabama beat some pretty quality competition last year...its natural to get complacent and its natural for teams to come back on you...it kind of what happens in football that doesn't mean alabama or saban should be happy about it its just what happens.. as far as texas is concerned while the defense may have let up it didn't help that the offense didn't make a first down in the third quarter. That has to effect a defense and wear on them....to be honest stuff like that happens in the pro's too. i mean yes it was more of a problem in 08 that i felt was for the most part fixed.....and i never felt like we got a huge lead on UT in 09 to let them back into the game...we just didn't execute. so really it only happened one time in 09 and that was texas.

I think honestly when we beat clumson the first game a few years ago the team realized they could win but the true turning point for me personally was when we went between the hedges and just railed UGA that too me was the turning point for CNS and this team.
Last year I would have to say that the ucheat game was HUGE and beating them was a sign that we could win even if it was ugly ~!~

I know there are a few games that stand out. The first one probably being the 2007 Arkansas game. But then the team went on to lose to UL-Monroe and MSU. So I wouldn't really say that Bama had turned the corner. Then there is the 2008 Clemson game, which is hard to argue against. I mean, they were a top 10 team expecting to compete for a national title; with a great deal of experience returning from the previous year's team. And quite honestly, not many people knew what to expect from the Tide that year. However, we all know how Clemson tends to fold under expectations; and that year was no exception. To me the game that really stands out to me is the Georgia (blackout) game. Both teams went into the game undefeated, and UGA is typically considered a top tier SEC team. To me it was that point that the Crimson Tide program turned the corner, and never really looked back. What are your thoughts..........

The first half against Georgia.

Any other answer no matter how honestly intended is wrong.

My wife even noticed it and she's a passive fan.
