What if the Big Ten isn't all that and a bag of chips this year?

I like that prediction! BTW, the 2007 NY Giants won the Super Bowl with 6 losses when they beat a 17-0 Patriots team. Play-off era is different.

Five of those six losses were to playoff teams, including a 3-point loss in the finale to the 16-0 Patriots.

Of course, the parallel falls apart since an 0-15 NFL team can beat a 15-0 one because of parity, too.

Agree Oregon hasn’t really beaten anyone great. An OT win over six loss Penn State a close win at Iowa …and USC are best wins . But, the fact is Oregon is loaded with NFL talent, ala OSU, Georgia, Bama.
They are expected to have 3, maybe 4 first rounders and a couple more second rounders. Add a good coach, and yes, despite an easy schedule, I wouldn’t take them lightly.
IMO, Lanning is one of the more overrated HCs in the country. DeBoer is 3-0 against him with lesser talent each time. Not saying that he is bad, just overrated. Also, he is young, so he may be improving. He has a lot of talent from an open checkbook and a lot of trouble winning big games.

i was so glad he was not interested in the Alabama job. IMO, that’s one of the wiser decisions of his career.

Some people I talk to think he is the greatest. I just don’t see it yet.

Of the two I’ve always preferred DeBoer over lanning. Lanning has alot of maniac tendencies in big games that drives me up the walls. One of his 3 losses to DeBoer simply came down to the fact that DeBoer didn’t call 4th down attempt after fourth down attempt when he didn’t have to like Lanning was. He really should have lost to Wisconsin last year because of dumb gambles.

I think most of the Lanning love by bama fans stems from 3 directions. 1 is that he is a Saban disciple that models his team like a Saban team where DeBoer isn’t and doesn’t. 2. He is very animated and in players and officials faces where DeBoer isn’t, and 3. We have a part of our fanbase that will never accept DeBoer no matter what he does and Lanning is the only real name in the coaching search that they know about so it becomes the “the guy we should’ve gotten”. I really hope us and Oregon win on Thursday so the Karens Against DeBoer part of our fanbase will finally lose their argument about Lanning over DeBoer because I have no doubt that we would wipe the floor with Oregon

Wasn’t Lanning only with Coach Saban for a single season as a GA?

Right now the BIG is 5 and 0 in bowl games. Last year they were better than the SEC. The SEC is balanced but below Ohio State and Indiana with OSU being the better team. Nobody in the SEC can play with Ohio State week in and week out, but in one game stuff can happen.

Beating such powerhouses as Boise, new mexico, central michigan, James Madison, and the worst clempson team in 15 years.

Lanning literally handed DeBoer the first win (two of the dumbest coaching calls I have ever seen) that season but was beaten soundly in the rematch. I am not high on Lanning. I prefer DeBoer over Lanning.

Clemson’s two best defensive players opted out. I don’t think we will know until Wednesday if the B1G is for real. I just have my reservations right now. Ohio st I think is loaded with talent but I don’t think they are near the for sure world wreckers they were last year. I honestly think Miami might actually have more talent and experience than they do even as a 10 point dog.

A&M scored 3 points against Miami is not a ringing endorsement for the SEC. In strength of schedule OSU and Miami are even so Miami might boat race OSU. Alabama's strength of schedule is 14 time harder than Indiana so we may do the same thing to them, but I am not betting against OSU or Indiana even getting points. I may make a small wager on Alabama to win with the odds since we have played a tougher schedule.

Add the fact that Alabama played Oklahoma in the first round, meaning the SEC HAD to have one loss. And then Texas A&M...
