What's a quick drive to get to Starkville from Memphis? Take 55 South farther down (go through Batesville and Winona) or get on Interstate 78 from Memphis to go through Tupelo?
Correct, except that just south of Tupelo Hwy 45 splits into Hwy45 and Hwy 45Alternate. 45 alternate is also a 4 lane and runs back into Hwy 82 west of Columbus, almost to Starkpatch. It will save you at least 30 minutes driving time.RLtdRL12 said:The best way (the way with the most developed roads) will be to take US 78 (EAST) from Memphis to Tupelo. Then take US 45 (SOUTH) from Tupelo to Columbus. From Columbus take US 82 (WEST) to Starkville.

Memphis...US 78 east to US 45.....US 45 to US 45A.... US 45A to US 82...US 82 to Starkpatch. Four lanes all the way!
By taking 45A, West Point is the only town you actually run through. And there's only 1-2 street lights. You'll get through there quickly.MississippiTider said:Memphis...US 78 east to US 45.....US 45 to US 45A.... US 45A to US 82...US 82 to Starkpatch. Four lanes all the way!

I would at least try some Columbus area hotels before Tupelo. This year, we're actually staying at the Hampton Inn in Columbus for Tide games (only an hour away from campus and nicer than many hotels in T-town). Very nice, clean hotel.playball31580 said:Sweet, thanks guys. I really appericate it. I guess I should just find a hotel in the Tulepo area since I'm sure there are all booked down at Starkville for that weekend huh?
Hey playcall, it's great to hear that another Missourian is making the trip to Starkville (we're making the long ride from Jeff City. Hope to see you there. BTW, we're staying at the Best Western in Tupelo. We've stayed there before going to/from Tide games and it's pretty new, clean, a good rate at $55/night, and is across the road from a 24hr Kroger that has plenty of tailgating supplies.playball31580 said:Sweet, thanks guys. It's just a friend and I this trip. We made the trip to the Ole Miss two weeks ago with my Dad, but it doesn't look like the calendar will let us come back down to T-town this year.playball31580 said:hey RobK...gotta love Bama fans that are from Missouri. Boy, you got a longer drive than I do. My dad and I are leaving like 4am on Saturday morning to go straight down to Starkville unless he wants to head out on Friday night and stay overnight somewhere. We are staying at the Howard Johnson in the Tupelo area on Saturday night since there is no way we'll be driving back to St. Louis straight through after the game. This will be our second trip to see Bama play this year. First game was against Arkansas at T-town which was my very first trip there. Am going to the Auburn game later on this year and I sure can't wait cause I have never been to an Iron Bowl matchup before. Who you bringing down to the trip and where u sitting for the game?
