Question: What is your definition of someone being "open minded"?

I look at the reaction Mr. Cathy from Chick Fil A got for simply stating his belief regarding marriage. The outrage and labels the man got was nuts. Did he refuse to serve gays? Nope. Did he refuse to hire gays? Nope. He simply stated his belief and since it didn't all in line with a large group of people he was labeled narrow minded.
As another alluded to earlier in the thread, in America today, being "open-minded" is whether or not you agree with liberals. I've seen a few conservatives call ppl out on being open-minded, but the vast majority of the time it is liberals accusing conservatives of not believing what they believe. The girl I dated in college was very liberal and when I'd challenge her on a point (I'm more libertarian), her brush off would be that I wasn't open-minded. I honestly think many (not all) liberals think that they are god's gift to the rest of us and are more enlightened than us lowly peasants.
