What was your toughest, hardest, most depressing, gut-wrenching loss to take?

It has be the kick six, not only because of the way the game ended or it being a loss to the barn, but because it cost us a shot at the SEC and national titles.

My second worse loss is an obscure one compared to the others that folks have mentioned.

I'll set the stage: The year was 1990 and I was a senior in high school. Bama was fresh off of the heels of a 10-2 season, and returned virtually everyone from their record setting offense. It was the first game of the Stallings regime, and no one could convince this 17 year-old that Bama wasn't going all the way, and this pathetic little Southern Miss team surely wasn't going to be more than a minor speed bump.

The game was an absolute nightmare. First, Brett Favre, the USM qb, had been in a car accident over the summer, and was not expected to play. He played, and played well. Second, in what would be a recurring theme for that 1990 season, our all-everything RB Siran Stacy fell in a heap on the artificial surface, grasping his knee. It was a torn ACL. Third, we just couldn't get any consistency late in the game, and pesky Brett Favre propelled USM to a stunning upset of top ten Bama.

I was devastated for weeks, and my classmates at school ribbed me that much worse knowing how much the loss got to me. I remember it like it was yesterday...

As an OSU fan, the 2015 loss to MSU. Still not sure how we lost that game. Zeke about lost his mind afterward for not getting the ball more. Cost us a spot in the CFP.

As an Alabama fan, the loss to Clemson.

But I have to ask, with the season a few days away,

Exactly. Don't even want to think about them.

Auburn 2013. They ruined our bid for the 3-peat we surely would have won. And then they promptly went out and blew the game against Florida State.

I have not re-watched that game and cringe in disgust any time the stupid replay is shown. That was one game in which we completely lost ourselves. Bad coaching and weird player effort (I purposely do not say bad or poor effort. Those guys were giving it their all, but there was just some weird stuff that happened).

Clemson? Kick 6? Cam's comeback?

For me, it's Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl.

Mine also..... 1973 Sugar Bowl....ND 24- Bama 23
The 2012 game did help ease the pain finally.

Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl . I broke a chair on my living room wall !
Must be something about losing to ND. `75 Orange Bowl, in BOQ at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. Driving for a winning field goal and got picked off. Put my head through a door. Literally shattered it. I`d had a few by then, so that`s probably why I didn`t break my neck. Had to cross a living room to do it and everybody said that I was just a blur ( at least until I hit the door ).

As an Alabama fan, this would be my clear #2. The only reason it isn't #1 is because of the "you never know" factor. We know that the loss to Clemson cost you a championship (and 3 in a row). We do not know if that Alabama team would have beat FSU (though it is very likely).

Auburn 2013 and its only closely followed by auburn 2010 because of the miracle fumble from ingram and when trent got hit in the hands wide open inside the 3 BOTH happened when up 21-0 before halftime.

Either UT 03, LSU 07, or Florida 94.

The Clemson 16 and Auburn 13 I kinda felt we were going to lose late in the game. Plus I’ve tempered my feelings the older I get, and I am less likely to dwell on loses like I did earlier. Plus I can just pop on a great past game to get over it.

Shutout loss to TN in 1970. In fact that's the only depressing, gut-wrenching loss I can think of today. The rest just made me feel bad. The bad losses mentioned above were all disappointments, but I was never as low as that day almost 50 years ago. Probably an age and perspective thing, too.

I personally sat through Punt Bama Punt and Scamback; no one should have to endure those 2 in one lifetime.
In 1972; Auburn could not have scored a TD in a month; it was so surreal 40k Bama fans just sat there after the game ended.
In 2010; I was so furious I walked right through the middle of the barn band in the parking lot because they were in my way celebrating

This is easy. 2017 at Auburn. Because of utter stupidity. Even worse would have been the 2017 loss in the championship game if the assistant coaches hadn't finally prevailed.

I have gotten over the other losses and chalked them up to bad luck, a bad play or karma. I WILL NEVER get over the loss at Auburn last year. NEVER because it was self-inflicted.

I would say Auburn 2013 because it ruined the possibility of a 3 peat... I also have several Auburn friends who bragged about it. It was a crazy play.

Next would be Clemson a few years ago. We should have won that game. My neighbors (we are good friends) are Clemson fans. I tried to avoid them for a few days after that loss. At least I like Dabo and Deshaun Watson. I can't say that about Gus.

Stopped Ala 28 game winning streak and quest for three straight National titles.
I still haven't gotten over it, to this day.
That, and a series of low-lites on the drive home from Jackson. I remember something about a MS state trooper, being asked not to drive, fighting a pine tree, getting thrown out of the Cotton Patch, and a horrendous hangover. That angel stays on my shoulder no matter how much I disrepect her.

The 67 loss in B'ham smarted pretty good to. Doug Dickey had the Vol program going and consistently out recruiting Bama before he pulled the plug and headed back to Florida.
