Re: WHAT IF???

There's one other scenario, and even though it's "a reach" I could envision it happening.....maybe.
Ohio State or FSU loses. Missouri beats Auburn in a horribly played game by a score of like 13-10.
In that situation, because we're still ahead of Missouri in the BCS rankings I could see the coaches and the Harris voters possibly voting to keep Bama ranked ahead of Mizzou. It would then fall on the computers and there would be a very slight chance.
There would also be a ton of pressure from the TV Networks, though it may fall on deaf ears. But I can assure you, ABC would lobby in any way they could to get Bama in the game. To them a championship game of FSU versus Missouri would be a ratings nightmare.
Meanwhile, realistically, I'm going to go out and by me a Blue Devil outfit and a Spartan hat to wear on Saturday :)

Re: WHAT IF???

Forget about it. The voters are so sick of Bama in the BSCNCG, they are not gonna give us another shot this year, no matter what.

Re: WHAT IF???

We should have just won the game. Accept it, we wont be in the NC game. Is it mathematically possible? yes but only with Ohio St and FSU losing next week. Thats the ONLY what if that would matter for us.
I could see a possibility if OSU loses to MSU and Mizzou beats AU close. Both of those are 50-50 in my mind.

Money talks and if OSU wins out they will play in the BCSNC but nobody other than OSU fans believe that would be a competitive game. FSU vs AU would be compelling but the most compelling and potential money making game would still be FSU vs Bama. I believe if there's a way for it to happen the money will be pushing for an FSU vs Bama match-up.

I disagree - Alabama is getting a lot of sympathy in the media since this happened.

How about this scenario?

I see this as the most plausible of the scenarios that might let us back in the big picture:

1. Mizzou beats Auburn, but just BARELY. So now Auburn has two losses. Mizzou is still a one-loss team, like us, but we lost to #4 (at the time) Auburn and Mizzou lost to South Carolina. So, we remain ranked above Mizzou.

2. MSU beats Ohio State, so they drop a few notches.

3. #1 FSU and #2 Alabama play for it all.

Before anyone laughs, I think this is every bit as believable as what happened last year after the A&M loss.

I just made that argument on another thread.

Another Bowl Scenario - Rematch?

This crossed my mind and now it is being reported as another (though maybe improbable) possibility. If Mizzou beats AU, and Ohio St. loses it would appear we are in for a Fl St - Mizzou National Championship Game. As the SEC runner up AU goes to the Sugar and..... Here is what being tossed...* Edwards mentions the idea that Auburn and Alabama could both potentially wind up meeting again in the Sugar Bowl depending on how the at-large bids are handed out. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2013/12/fans_experts_react_to_iron_bow.html I have already decided I would love to see it. How about the rest of you?

Sorry. Didn't mean to steal your idea.

But if this scenario plays out, I do think it's critical that Mizzou beats Auburn in a close, sloppy, ugly game. Sure, they'll be the SEC champs, but our loss was to a higher ranked team. South Carolina, who defeated them, lost to Georgia and the Vols.

Re: Another Bowl Scenario - Rematch?

i would love to see a bama, auburn rematch. test the old tale can lightening hit in the same place. it would be the redeemers bowl game just like the lsu rematch. it would be worth a lot to the advertisers and mostly alabama. i am sure auburn would not go for it.

Re: Another Bowl Scenario - Rematch?

I don't see it happening, as I think we won't be "left on the board" when the Sugar gets to pick. I think the first three picks would be Orange, Rose, Orange.

Remember the good old days under Shula when we wondered whether it would be the Independence or Music City Bowls?

I went to one of those Independence Bowls with my wife and FiL - the year that you beat Iowa State. Maybe not one of Alabama's best years, but still produced some great memories.
