Whats up with this?

I don't understand

Why the University is trying to buy them back. Is it mainly to save embarrassment? Are they making the players who sold them then reimburse the University?

If not, wouldn't that be an unfair compensation in favor of the student-athlete? Would the re-buying of the rings, then placing them in the Custody of the University consititute "rent" being paid to the players, by the original auction winner on Ebay?

I see some NCAA "precedent" here. Rest assured, if these were Univ. of Alabama rings, there would have been some stiff penalties levied against the Univ. Of course, I doubt OUR players would have sold their rings....

That's sad . About a year ago I was looking around at some guns in a pawn shop in Florence Alabama. We have the University of North Alabama here , UNA as it is known. They are the only ncaa college football team to win 3 consecutive back to back to back national championships. I think it was 93,94,95, anyway like I was saying I was looking at some guns and in one of the cases there was a beauitful collegic ring. I asked to look at it and the guy complied. It was a championship ring from UNA from 93.I asked the guy what it was doing here he said one of the players got in a bind and needed money and he pawned it. The guy never came back for it.. so sad.
