oh man, I haven't seen this one mentioned yet.. O Keefe Plaza hotel, I've never been to N.O. so I was looking for something between the Superdome and the French Quarter. Do I need to be packing heat to stay in this hotel/area? :eek2:

We're staying at The W in the French Quarter. The trip is my Christmas present from my beautiful wife!

I spoke with a physician friend of mine who did his fellowship at Tulane and he said walking up Poydras from the casino or the Arts district is safe.

Wish we could go. Someone please go over to the Camiela Grill and have a chesseburger for me! I ate there the last time I was in NO. They have the best burgers. Enjoy all those going to the game and Roll Tide!

Smokies1, I live about 35 miles north of the Dome and don't want to drive after the Tide rolls all over Utah, so I got a room at the O'keefe Plaza Hotel. Never stayed there but have tailgated in their parking lot for Saints games and it is in a safe area. It's about 2 blocks off Poydras street (the Dome is on Poydras) and it's the only hotel I could find that didn't require a 2 night stay and is in walking distance of the dome. I will tell you this, they are charging $25 a day for parking for this event which is about what you'd pay anywhere that close to the Dome. Send me an email and I'll let you know where we are tailgating!

Harrah's on one side and Mother's on the other. Good times!
I'm looking forward to Mother's, but I'll try and stay out of Harrah's. I'm never as lucky as I think I am. My wife is a 39 year old Duranie and since Duran Duran always stays at the W, she decided we would, too. My favorite is the Monteleone (sp?). I love that grand old hotel and the Carousel Bar.

It's all about the food for me. We're hoping to get a night at Gallitore's and Antione's if time allows. And, one of my favorites, lunch at Johnny's PoBoys!

All great picks! Antoine's is like a museum with killer food!

Staying at the Sheraton! I saw at least one other person mention it. The location seemed pretty good. We're trying to talk the friends we're going with out of driving to the Superdome from the hotel. Seems like a nightmare (as well as expensive).
