First I'm fully aware that every team has good and bad fans, and Alabama is no exception. But in a way I can rationalize Alabama, Florida, tOSU, and other winning programs arrogance and obnoxiousness because we have a degree of success to look back on. But UGA is one I have a hard time with.

Ive just recently gotten more acquainted with UGA fans, and I never knew them to be so obnoxiously arrogant before. I went to the NCG and they were really bad, but I took it as they were just very excited because they havent been there in a long time. But its gotten worse with the more Ive met. UGA fans act like they have won 30 national championships, 60 SEC Championships, and invented football. But the truth is they are tied for 7th in national championships in the SEC with 2, and they are number 2 in their own state with FBS national championships to GT.

But one would think they would've mellowed out or gone back into their hiding spot after that National Championship game, but they have gotten even worse with national signing day and the start of spring practice. Ever since January Ive heard ' We want yall because we are going to curb stomp yall", " Gene Stallings and Nick Saban are cheaters", "We have taken yall's position in the world because we have broke yall's NSD streak", and more and more crap. Ive just never seen a fanbase bark so loud that has achieved so little, and I think they are worse than Auburn fans most of the time.

My question(s) is " Have they always been this way?" and "Where does this arrogance come from?"

Some of it is arrogance, a lot of it to me comes off as false bravado to hide jealousy of Alabama. They are especially bitter towards us in my experience with their fans.

I never realized the insanity of UGA fans until I moved here. After living amongst them for 20+ years, I now know just how delusional and insane their fans are. They are without a doubt the worse fans I have encountered. I have actually had a grown man bark at me because I was wearing my Alabama shirt.

A) What does Gene Stallings have to do with Georgia?
.
My work sent me to training course in Birmingham, some UGA fans were amongst us. In between breaks we got to talking football, and at first I thought it was pretty civil and wasn't just obnoxious banter. But then one said "Bama only beats UGA with elite coaches that they over pay for, with the exception of Ray Perkins.". I said " Gene Stallings isn't really regarded as "elite" and he was 3-1 vs UGA". For some reason that set them off and they started the " Well Nick Saban is going to end up like Gene Stallings in that at the end of his career he is going to be outed as a cheater and Bama will be put on probation. " I just gave up after that because they started "Bama fans live in the past" "We are going to whip yall's butts if yall don't choke against Auburn" "Yall are cheaters" etc.

B) They sound like UCLA football fans from the 1990s.
Ive heard that UCLA fans are worse than USC even though I have never met a Bruin fan in my life, and Ive met a lot of loud and obnoxious USC bandwagoners.

Ive also heard that UCLA has a bad campus but good location, and USC is the opposite (Great campus but bad location)

The only fight I ever saw in Bryant Denny was my pop beating the UGA out of a guy for pushing my mother. Georgia fans have a special place in my...knuckles.

I'm not one to quote Lincoln too much, but...
Abraham Lincoln said:
“The hen is the wisest of all the animal creation, because she never cackles until the egg is laid.”
UGa may be the one to knock Bama off the pedestal. But that day is still in the future and not a certainty in any case.
If UGa players believe that it is a foregone conclusion, then that day may never come.

I lived there for 20 years, and most all of them had that attitude...and they hated Alabama football. I watched the 1992 national championship game between Alabama and Miami with one of my best friends in Georgia. After the game, he said to me, "I'm jealous of Alabama football". That's all he said. And that basically tells you all you need to know. I thinks it's jealousy more than arrogance. They remind me of AU in so many ways.

They have so little accomplished and so much to say. For the flagship college of a massive state, they can be nasty, insecure and vile, particularly when traveling in packs.

Its hilarious because on paper they should be a dynasty. Talent rich state with very little in state competition and they still can't seem to get the job done.

Well, being from Georgia and having lived here all my life, I can tell you they are arrogant because they honestly believe they are better than everyone else...........in their minds. Many of the older UGA fans don't like the state of Alabama, and believe all the stereotypes that circulate about Alabama and other SEC schools. In the mind of a UGA fan, they are above cheating and have never done such...........despite the knowledge that they too have done it, but got away with it. A lot of it is jealousy because they haven't achieved the success that Bama has.............heck, Ga Tech has more NCs that UGA, and that galls them to no end, but they hate Bama more than Florida, to hear many of them tell it..............Bama lives rent free in the minds of UGA fans, and it gnaws at them constantly

I can tell you, after hearing "How bout them dawgs" forever, this year's NC win was very satisfying to me...............the look of bewilderment on their faces was great
