Please!! "Oh bleeding hearts unite"!!!
Not hating here nor wishing ill physically for the kid and for me it has nothing to do with him choosing a different school over us!..... I'd just like to see him taken down a few notches in his inagural season.
Let him earn his stripes ligit and not just heralded as the best QB to ever grace Gainsville eventhough he hasn't played a full game or season! Then I'll have some respect for him and his accomplishments after the season.

Yeah, I wanna see him get "slobber-knocked" a few times and I hope it's by one of our D players in the SECCG!! Come on guys it's freaking football! You can't tell me you don't enjoy watching a rival team's QB get folded up on occassion!!! He's with a rival SEC team. I'm not into this "tree huggin" nicey thing with other teams and their players. I relish watching the other teams get smacked around in the SEC up until bowl season...then I pull for all SEC as a whole.
Until then...It's Roll Tide and screw the rest!!!

Apparently we should switch to two hand touch so that no one gets hurt. Especially someone from a different/rival team. God forbid he gets the taste knocked out of his mouth in a contact sport. I'm sticking to my guns I hope a LB lights him up several times.

Why single him out though? I love to see our defense smack someone but to wish that somone knocks a player out that is over the line. Read the post who my response was to. The post said that they could not wait to see him knockedout not get smacked.

As far as his personality, I have the privilige to know Robin and Chris Sorensen, founders of Firehouse Subs. I am a franchisee and have talked to them on several occasions. They are close to the Tebow family and have nothing but praise for him as a fine young man. Knowing how much of upstanding citizens the Sorensen's are, I trust their judgement of Tim Tebow.

How many Awbarn fans do you think were rooting for another solid lick on Brodie Croyle during the 05 Iron Bowl. If Tebow is so good then solid licks won't phase him. I just think he needs to prove himself. I'm sure he's a fine young man but that doesn't make him a phenom at QB in the SEC.

I'd say this thread has officially reached rock bottom. The only thing it lacks is someone claiming to have taken a leak on the Tebow family's mailbox.
Well.. there was this one time...j/k Hope I didn't offend anyone with my opinion. Just to put you all at easy I hope the guy does well in whatever he chooses.

I sure hope he doesn't get knocked out of the UT game, after he wins that one, I really don't care.

P.S. and as long as he is back to bet the Barn.

Talked to my Dad last night, who lives and works in the Knoxville area (he's a Bama fan though, wears his Bama watch everyday and whenever anbody asks him what time is it, he says its time for Bama to kick UT's butt!) and he said their fans cannot wait until they play UF. My Dad says they want to hurt him and just laughs. He asks them dont you guys play Cal the first game of the season? Might want to watch out for them then think about the rest of the games. Crazy hillbillies.

To address "he's over rated" crowd all I have to go on is a statement from Coach Bill Oliver saying he's the best young talent he's ever seen at the position. Say what you want about CBO but he knows football.

I like a good physical football game where a defense is "gittin after 'em" and you hit them hard, help them up and tell them "I'll be right back" but when teams head hunts just to injure a player then a line has been crossed and should result in some very harsh penalties.

I wish TT well and wish no ill will towards him but, he better cinch up his jock strap because there's plenty of talented D players in the best conference in the country that will think of nothing but a few bone jarring, teeth rattling greetings come the fall.

I never want to see any player injured regardless of what team they play for!

As for Tim Tebow, the sky is the limit! And until the Tide meets him in the SEC-CG... I wish him nothing but the best. :BigA:

Well if you look at his Myspace page he has pics of himself with his head photoshoped on top of Superman's body. He refers to himself as "The Chosen One". When you've played a few downs in a few SEC games regardless if you've done well that should not be the go ahead to start presenting yourself as the best there is. My whole point for this thread was to simply state that often times people who stand on the street corner telling everyone how good they are sometimes get their mouth shut for them. Regardless of how anyone feels it will all be settled on the field.
Couldn't say anything about his web page but , "The Chosen One" was the tag espn gave him when they named the 1hr special they ran about him .

I think last year he took people by surprise with his running and the spread but DC have had a year to look at film and disect the way he is used so he might not find it as easy to run left run right every play.

I do not want any player injured no matter what team even a ucheat or barner but I wouldn't mind him getting his bell rung a few times the very first game!!

i wouldnt be suprised to see tebo ring a bell or two himself. he will probably out weigh some of the speed linebackers. and db's. he will be a load to bring down at full speed.

First of all, the last thing in the world a BAMA fan wants to do is to emulate barner fans. Their lack of class is a matter of fact.

As far as proving himself, he's wearing a NC ring right now and he contributed heavily to it. It's also pretty silly to contend that solid licks won't faze him if he's any good. He's flesh and blood and sometimes players get hurt even without contact.

I like Tebow and he has some growing to do. He is a good athlete and I hope he will stay healthy.

I do not like to see anyone get hurt but if any QB gets hurt in the SEC, which team suffers the most?

A. auburn - the barnyard spring game saw some very bad QB play from the backups. If Cox goes down so does the barn. :BigA:

Tebow is a fine young Christian and as a highschool athlete a man among boys. He appears to be continuing that trend. However, observing him at Elite 11 we weren’t overly impressed with his footwork or passing; at times he had problems throwing a spiral. That said, his wobblers had enough stuff on them to sting receivers. In our opinion he is a work in progress as a passing QB. Interesting to note Urban Myth was careful to place him in win-win situations, which was great for his confidence, development and....press. Believe we’ll see a different Tebow; while still a running threat he’s going to have to depend on his QB/passing skills to survive...and win. Those that have played the game can attest to the wear and tear of continuing hits. They are in fact cumulative in their debilitating effect. And, he'll have a big bullseye on his back. Interesting thread in that I’m told by an associate even Las Vegas odds makers are interested in how long he’ll hold up in SEC. With bluechips lining up behind him apparently others have the same question and confidence that he’s not all he appears. We’ll see… any case wish him the best healthwise…and mediocrity when he plays us.

Well I don't feel as bad now knowing that Vegas is taking odds.
I don't think you should feel bad, I didn't take this thread as being malicious, even if some took it that way. I took it as "if Tebow runs, especially between the tackles, the same percentage this year as a full time starter as last year as a situational player, how long will he hold up to the pounding?" Your way was just less wordy.

As far as whether a player should be penalized for trying to hurt or knock out an opposing player, of course my first question is how do you prove intent? Late hits, hits out of bounds and other rules violations are already covered. I used to think like one of the above posters, that a player should be penalized for "trying" to hurt an opponent, I will qualify that prior belief by saying I never played a down of football beyond pee-wee. In my first year Torts class we had a long debate on this very issue, discussing the professional player many years ago, who had a towel with numbers of players he had knocked out and planned to knock out of games (I forget his name and who he played for). Text book case of a situation where the player should be penalized, possibly sued maybe even prosecuted, right? Almost every male in my class that had played football at at least the high school level (one actually played on Alabama's 1992 team) said, "as long as no rules were broken it's part of the game." There is an expectation that the opponent should be in good enough physical shape to take the hits, be smart enough to avoid hits when possible and otherwise knew what to expect when suiting up. Anyone that couldn't handle any of those things deserved what they got.

Many of you might find it interesting that according to "Junction Boys" Coach Bryant and Coach Stallings co-authored a book on football (forget the name and haven't read it, so this is sort of second-hand). In that book, Coach Bryant instructed defensive players thusly--the first defender to the ball carrier should stand him up (i.e. stop his forward progress) but not bring him to the ground, so that several of his fellow defenders can hit and gang tackle the ball carrier, to punish the ball carrier. Now this isn't saying to "intentionally" hurt the opposing player, but it shows a mind set that the game is physical and causing pain to the opposition is acceptable even expected. It's worth noting that Coach Stallings felt bad enough about that part of the book, when he later re-published it on his own that section was omitted.

Meyer is smart enough to know that Tebow can't run as much as he did last year and be the starter. Will Tebow be smart and get down or get out of bounds when he runs? Time will tell. If he doesn't, I don't see him lasting overly long. He's a big, strong kid, but I expect Coach Bryant wasn't and isn't the only coach with the above philosophy. There will be several big, strong kids looking to tackle Tebow, and maybe even inflict some "punishment."

I don't know if Tebow will get knocked out of a game, but I imagine that the hits will wear on him, it does on everyone from what I hear. I'll be paying special attention in the UF-UT game; always seems like a high percentage of opposing offensive stars get hurt when facing the Big Orange. I'll give them this, UT's offense may have struggled, but Chavis' boys always like to hit.

IF Tebow gets hurt (and I really hope he doesn't), I personally hope it's a non-contact Grammatica type injury from jumping around acting like an idiot. Obviously I can't stand all of the show-boating, jumping around, fist pumping, theatrics he engages in. This isn't just limited to Tebow or UF, I don't like any of it. Maybe Tebow and Noah can get together and choreograph some silly NFL type dances to go along with their cartwheels.

I totally agree.
I think some took the wording in your first post and ran with it. I personally hate see injuries, but they are an unfortunate part of the game. That being said, I LOVE to see good hard hits (especially when they come from the good guys. :BigA: ). I would like every team to think twice about trying to get that extra step or yard in when they play Bama. Maybe “skull cracked open” was a little much for some on here. I wouldn’t let them get to you though; everyone’s mood will get better in about 50 or so days.
