Question: Which Juniors will leave early for the NFL? Just Henry and A'Shawn So Far

Re: Which Juniors will leave early for the NFL?

With how contracts have changed in the NFL, I think its really a smart move for most players to return if they don't grade out strong for the first or second round. For his position its better to be considered a "cant miss" to get 1st/2nd round money and right now he's not at that point imo. Its a tough call for him, I just he heeds whatever the staff recommends for him. With the defensive players a lot of this is straight-forward though. If youre not grading in the second round ... dont go.

I think it's just the opposite now. 1st round money isnt what it used to be. If you're good enough it's better to go early so you can get the big money on your 2nd contract. You only have so many years to play ball and I'd rather be paid for it.

Because of missed time with injuries, Bo S may be able to jump after the 2016 season. I think.
Take a look at possible RBs next year. Wouldn't be smart for him to leave.

This. The difference in the rounds isn't that much after they most recent CBA.

Regarding OJ, two broken coverages in a high profile don't necessarily guarantee a high draft position. His most impressive play of the night was the wheel route that showcased his speed. But if I were a GM, I would wonder why there were so few highlights over a three year career.

The average first round contract from 2015 was just over $11 million. The highest contract from the second round in 2015 (Landon Collins, pick #33) was $6 million.

First round isn't what it used to be, but on average it's a bunch of cash...

does the first round contract info include the 5th year option or just the 4 years?

Agreed. But if you are good enough, getting to that 2nd contract is what matters. I don't like the way the changed the rookie deals.

Re: Which Juniors will leave early for the NFL?

They made it in such a way to decrease their risk and increase the depth of the draft pool. NFL wasn't stupid with how they structured the contracts.

Re: Which Juniors will leave early for the NFL?

The fallacy of this system is that the "draft grades" are done in an information vacuum. there are 32 first round slots. The grading process is done with only the known seniors and possibly a few no brainer juniors that are assumed, but in a few weeks time around a hundred juniors will declare MANY of whom were given 1st or 2nd round grades. but the slots remain at 32 and cannot change.

So I hear Tim Williams got a 1st or 2nd round grade. When you add the massive influx of juniors you might as well add a round to that so really it's 2nd to 3rd round. He did the right thing in staying to try and push that into a more solid 1st round grade. the difference in money is life altering. you only have one shot.

You're exactly right. This is especially true with the new rookie pay scales. You really need to get as high on the board as you can for guaranteed money. Most don't get the big bucks until their second contract, but when the initials also mean Not For Long it's a HUGE gamble.

No proof but seen someone on twitter say Foster's uncle said he will return.

So you liked it when players like Jamarcus Russell and Sam Bradford got upwards of $60M guaranteed when they've never played a down in the NFL. The 1st pick in the draft (the old way that you like) would instantly become the highest paid player in the league. That was a terrible system..

Re: Which Juniors will leave early for the NFL?

Thanks and best of luck to Derrick Henry. You played out of position for three years and never said a word.

Re: Which Juniors will leave early for the NFL?

Ryan Anderson announces he's returning.

BOOM!

Seriously, assuming Foster returns, next year's defense will likely be better than this year - the run D will be close to this year's and the (young) secondary will be even better.

Just sick.

Re: Which Juniors will leave early for the NFL?

Keeping Tim Williams could be huge. Replacing the starting down three is gonna be tough but there is some depth there which is encouraging.

I'm assuming Harrison is gonna start at safety next to Jackson and hopefully Brown will head his head down and grow in the offseason into a replacement for Cyrus Jones.

For me, a dream secondary would be.. Marlon and Minkah at CB, Harrison at FS, Jackson at SS, TB at Star, Kendall Sheffield/Maurice Smith at Money.
