When you live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and have to put up with the obnoxious lswho fans all year long, this year meant more. They are very quiet right now. Not seeing as much who gear as usual. Hopefully the beginning of the end of them even being in any championship talk.
The Beaches are gonna be a LOT more fun this year. Jeez, last year, and in 2008 (after their last NC), they were just taking over the whole place, with their obnoxious beat boxes playing at "11" and EVERYWHERE was purple and Gold...ugh.

2009 meant more to me. We went unbeaten, took out 10 bowl teams, school's first Heisman, and got to see the title game in person

The 2012 BCSCG was more fun to watch...

But the 2009 season and capping it off with a BCS Championship meant more to me, personally. It had been so long since we won a championship or even in contention. Plus, at that point, we had never won a BCS Bowl game (2000 Orange and 2009 Sugar). We got about 100 monkeys off our backs that season and it was almost like this generation's 1961 team. It was the beginning of something special...and everyone knew it.

2011 definitely to me. 2009 was a championship. 2011 was the completion to a year of ups and downs that ended the best possible way it could.

After the devestation and destruction that happened, and then the heartbreaking loss to LSU at home, winning in New Orleans was the best thing the best possible conclusion to this past year. Aside from that, the fact that we beat every single other opponent by at least double digits is just mind boggling!

I liked them both, but the 2011 was more satisfying to me personally. The way everybody was saying Alabama didn't belong in the game just made all the more sweeter putting the smack down on them. Also, nobody can sit there and say, "if we Colt hadn't have gotten hurt we would have won". LSU was at full strength and we still whooped them.

It is a tough call for me. 2009 felt like a huge sigh of relief for me, after 17 years, the Dubose, Fran, Price and Shula era, we were finally back on top. There were times between 2000-2006 where I felt we may never get there again in my lifetime. I remember walking out of Bryant Denny Stadium after that loss to Miss St in 2006 and the thought of winning a title in just 3 years was the furthest thing from my mind.

2009 was a really special season, winning a Heisman, beating Florida after being oh so close in 2008 and going undefeated. But at the same time 2011 was great because of it seemed like any chance we had was gone right after the LSU loss in November. Then all of the drama leading up to the final to the BCS selection show with Boise St, Ok St, Oregon, Stanford all going down. It was a lot of fun to beat LSU basically in their own backyard to win that title.

Both have different meaning to me, but I consider them both equal in my book.

2009 broke the 17 year drought and re-stored us to national prominence so it gets my vote. 2011 was also very special (and I believe this team was better than 2009) but 2009 was a very proud and happy moment.

well thats an intresting question because going into 2009 i was just expecting and wanting a good year maintain consistency they had in 08 (you have to remember bama, had not had 10+ wins in back to back years since 1991-1992 and i was born in 1987 so i grew up in the dark years) ..but by midseason....i kept being frustratated because i kept comparing everything we did to florida at the time..(the gators had broken my heart on multiple occasions in sec title games) and so the october offensive slump really bothered me. so even though the sec title game was the complete high for me (the best i had ever seen alabama play at that point). The BCS title game was really anti-climatic to me and even i questioned the "if colt mccoy hadn't been hurt" crap that night (after i found out mcelroy had cracked ribs i stopped worrying about it cause i decided well both qbs were injuried so its a wash, and then after re watching the game and realizing colt was only in for four plays, i didn't care cause how much can you gather from four plays.....now i don't care at all...suck it texas!!...you would have lost anyway!!!!) but it was still anti climatic...

2011.. i really stopped to really enjoy the year i didn't get upset over ever little miscue or mistake i really appreciated how good the team was.....even though we lost to lsu and i thought that the title had slipped away...i still appreciated how good the team was...and then when everything started to fall in place..(thanks iowa state, usc, and baylor!!!) i really believed that bama was gonna win the title...when they announced that bama was in the title game i was in Buffalo wild wings in mobile (where i live by the way) with a good friend of mine who was also a huge bama fan and his girlfriend. the place errupted....in celebration

Whats intresting is that i was so nervous before the 09 title game...i had nothing personal against texas (other than them being arrogant brats) and i didn't even have anything against florida ( i just wanted bama to take their place at the top of the sec)...but i just wanted to get through the national title game so bama would be champions . so i was nervous all day

2011 was the opposite....i was angry...i mean just in a bad disposition until kickoff....the corndog fans and even some of their thug players had just caused me to build up so much animosity towards them..and the media proclaiming them as the greatest ever just agitated me even more...ive said it before in another thread.. i hated this idea that they were the best...cause they weren't. even after november 5th i knew they weren't the best...bama was the best....bama was the best in the world...so the title game was definatley sweeter to me for that reason

so all in all i have to go with 2011 because of how i handled the season at the time...and the revenge and validation i got from alabama showing who the best team in the country really was.

2011 just because it wiped away the stench of the year-long Barn-fest I along with others had to see/listen to. 2011 was a long year having to hear the cheaters referred to as the defending national champs. All is right again... RTR

Both are special but getting " revenge" on a conferance rival is very special. Especially the way our defense just dominated the game. Of course that 1st win over the Longhorns is not to bad either. But I will still stick with 2011, that is until this year.

I agree there too, there was something just oh, so satisfying about taking OUR NC back from the "evil", cheating Barn, and giving it to the Rightful Home of the Right and Just in T-town...

2011! this was my 4th NC game and i have said several times since that is was the most special. Just something special about New Orleans, LSU and i was soooooo tired of hearing "TIGER BAIT". I also was glad to see us get off of no 13.

2009.

It represented a washing away of a decade's worth of mostly bad football.
This. Having just come off some years of pretty bad football, and embarrassing situations at the head coaching spot finally winning it and being "back" (after having been declared "back" several times before only to not be back) was nice. There were so many close calls that year (UT, LSU, Auburn) that could have lost us the game and potentially the title, and at the same time, dominating teams we weren't "supposed" to beat (UF, Texas) just makes it that more special to me. Heisman, SEC title, winning it in the Rose Bowl. It just made me not forget about that ten years of doldrums, but helped me finally be able to put it in the past and realize that we were indeed in a golden age (the 2007 season anomaly aside, it started when we publicly emasculated Clemson on national TV in 2008, but came to full realization for me after we beat Texas in Pasadena).

2011 was special, no doubt, and the team goes down as an all time favorite of mine, but 2009 meant more to me.

2011-Everything fell into place for us. Oklahoma State, Stanford, and Oregon all lost and we went back to our number 2 ranking, which set us up for the championship game... Pure redemption for a team that was number one in every major defensive category!!

2009 felt more special because of all the hard times we've been through wondering if we would ever get back to the top. Now that we are I'll savior every minute. 2011 was nice also but 2009 got it started.

Season 2009 meant more, but the victory over Miles and LSU, just the Saban vs Miles, meant more to me than any other game in coach Saban's tenure. Due to circumstance, schedule, a Circus in T-Town, an 0-3 record to Miles would have propelled him as the premier coach in the league. Even before the game I was seeing the beginnings of what was to come, and some of it dealt with age which was idiotic. The new players coach mold against the old guard. Well the old guard was the right guard.

Instead Miles came out looking the the chump he is. A likeable chump:), and order was restored. It was huge for recruiting and would have effected opinions out over three years.
