That was pandering to the ACC for the rump pain they felt last year because of FSU............and they look like fools for the decision to put SMU inSMU by far should not have been included. They are the glaring wart on the nose of the playoff.
IMO, Clemson and Indiana shouldn’t have been in either. Oh, Arizona State too.
Greg needs to be quietAnnouncers trying to justify SMU being in the playoffs was pathetic. Greg McElroy cheerleading for preserving conference championship games and including the runner ups didn’t age very well, either.
That would probably breathe new life into the Big 12 and ACC. I like it but there should be OBJECTIVE criteria that have to be met or you lose your spot and others like ND could be in. Maybe three spots guranteed for the big 2 conferences and two spots for the others. Wild card preference to those teams in major conferences or with comparable schedules. If you want in, schedule the games and win them.View attachment 48014
This scenario would work. It would also do away with a playoff committee and make Notre Dame either join a conference or sit at home.
Arizona State and Clemson do not belong either. All five getting in over Alabama, Ole Miss and USCe is criminal. All but UGA and Oregon don’t belong. But since there has to be 12, I’d throw out Boise, Indiana, and SMU and replace with USCe, Ole Miss, and Bama.
So a third of the teams? I think the same.SMU by far should not have been included. They are the glaring wart on the nose of the playoff.
IMO, Clemson and Indiana shouldn’t have been in either. Oh, Arizona State too.
I’m okay with the ACC and Big12 champs getting in a 12-team playoff. There should be a couple of patsies in there.Arizona State and Clemson do not belong either. All five getting in over Alabama, Ole Miss and USCe is criminal.
Well, when half the field is automatic qualifiers, it’s inevitable there are going to be undeserving teams. So a third of the teams? I think the same.
It hasn't aged at all. It is an opinion people will have regardless of what happens on the field.Announcers trying to justify SMU being in the playoffs was pathetic. Greg McElroy cheerleading for preserving conference championship games and including the runner ups didn’t age very well, either.
If Boise State lose.... Whew... The Committe will be discard in favor for Computer next year.Arizona State and Clemson do not belong either. All five getting in over Alabama, Ole Miss and USCe is criminal.
Most years - even in the poll years - there were 2-3, MAYBE 4 teams you could look at and say, "Maybe the best team." A couple of times (1977, 1983), maybe 5 teams. It is just about money. Been watching college football since the 1960s. There has never been a season where 12 teams had a legitimate shot at winning the championship, much less a team that ended the season ranked 17 (or wherever the Dabos and Smurfs were.)
