Stone and Arie seem to be the most likely of those you mention. Not sure where you get info on the other guys and it being 'common knowledge' about them signing with us.

I don't expect to add too many more guys in this class. I believe Alabama will land Arie Kouandjio and James Stone, but it gets fuzzy beyond that. I would think another defensive lineman is a good bet, but I have no real feeling as to who. From there I have no clue.

I think you are right. I feel almost 100% confident that we get both Arie and Stone -- and if something falls through there, I think we steal Coleman from Auburn (though again I don't think we miss on either Arie or Stone) -- but aside from that I have absolutely no clue where we go.

I imagine we'll get another guy or two, but who? There are a few more guys out there that I could legitimately see -- and I do think we'd take Sims back -- but in reality space is getting very tight, and honestly we got basically everyone we wanted. Most of the big fish in the pond as of a few weeks back (Fulton, Mosley, etc.) are all in crimson now.

Not to sound cocky or anything, but realistically this battle is basically over. At this point, you just try to close with a couple of more guys and make sure you don't get spurned late by current commitments. This is not going to be anything at all like NSD 2008 or NSD 2009.

Honestly, truth be told, I think our staff has had the bulk of their attention on 2011 for a little while now. They are very much ahead of the game at this point.

It's amazing to me that a class of this caliber is being viewed by some as "just ok" or "good, but not as good last year's", etc. This class is loaded with studs and will most likely prove to be as solid as any we've had. Some of these defensive players are going to be downright scary to watch in a few short years. We are truly blessed to be where we are with CNS, and it is great time to be rolling with the Tide! Mustafa just doesn't seem interested according to rivals. the others i think we get. stone and arie for sure. Menzie i think will come if we truly want him.

It's kind of fun being spoiled and taking great recruiting classes for granted. ;)

Question: If we are allowed 28 commits a year, is it possible to carry-over slots to the next class, or is it a use or loose situation? Also, if a player on scholarship (S.Jackson) transfers, does that open up another scholarship/slot for the team?:BigA:

This is very true.

We currently have 2 5* star kids committed (according to Rivals), and it should be 3 if they rated Phillip Sims accurately. That would put us with the same number of 5* kids as Florida.

We are currently #3, and all the kids we finish with are 4* star guys, and Adrian Hubbard is likely to get bumped up as well.

This is not a class to laugh at by any means, and I definitely think you are right about being spoiled at this point.

I agree, this class is awesome and people are acting like its just okay.

There was only one big need going into this class IMO, and that was at DB. Well we've obviously excelled at bringing in high quality talent at both S and CB, with the number 1 DB class in the country. I also thought it would be wise to bring in another QB and we bring in probably the best in the country. After that, I think we were just adding depth. We've added so much elite level depth in past classes to the LB/OL/DL/RB corps that the few we're adding to each position with this class is more than sufficient, and we're just adding a bunch of versatile talent. And even felt secure enough to bring in 2 scholarship kickers. And with so many early enrollees, it just makes this class that much better

Depending on how many we, Texas and Florida take, we still have a strong shot at the top class in the country. I think we pass Texas regardless and Florida could whiff on a few elite prospects they were after...and we could bring in as many as 5 more 4 star players.

Yes on the 28... those are use or lose. Keep in mind, though, as I've said many times, the rule of 28 isn't a hard one by any stretch -- you can fudge numbers all you want on greyshirts and early enroll guys and there is no punishment mechanism whatsoever in place -- so don't get too caught up in it.

As for the second question, a qualified yes. You have a total of 85 scholarships maximum at any given time, and any departure thus on a fundamental level frees up a scholarship. However, schools routinely sign in excess of current space because they know future attrition is coming, so with any one given transfer it might not open up another spot, per se, because the staff was planning on that all along and signed another kid in reliance of that spot coming open.

I expect Saban to bring in somebody that is not on our boards at all. Sign them either just before, or on signing day. Then turn out to be a true stud. Example Mark Ingram :). It could happen again this year too :biggrin2:

So can someone let me know exactly how many spots we have open at the moment? And how many we can expect open after supposed transfer students?

With the Kiffin/USC fiasco going down we could make out like bandits.
