Lots of smoke for DeBoer over the last few hours. I have to wonder if he'd be a good recruiter.
I think Kalen DeBoer would hire the right guys who do know how to recruit this part of the country. There's just some coaches who can win anywhere, and I think Kalen DeBoer is one of them. From what I can tell, he really knows what he's doing, especially when it comes to putting together a staff.

I think we have to go with someone that has experience in taking over for a legend because that will be a huge task. I can think of only one guy that has experience in doing something similar and he also has Alabama ties. It has to be none other then Bill O’Brien who took over for Joe Paterno.

OK, I guess I will say what everyone will not. What will shock the world the most? An Alabama native, former Alabama player and an All American who will be the FIRST BLACK HEAD COACH AT ALABAMA. I think that will shock more people than Kirby Smart or Dabo being named HC.
I think all those points have been made in earlier pages of this thread, but they are definitely valid.

Which is why all those people on here trying to post that rumor should be ashamed of themselves.

Saban didn’t have experience in the Southeast before he took the LSU job…and he recruited these parts just fine

They just played a clip on Finebaum and Coach said he had a 4pm team meeting yesterday and was , literally, on the phone with Miss Terry at 3:55 trying to make his decision. He said his concern was not for himself ; but the dozens of other lives that would be affected by his decision, that was the hard part.

Saban staying on to help would probably assist him greatly

Hear me out before you judge. Who has proven that he can follow Nick Saban and keep a Saban built program going strong for at least five years? Yes. Les “is more” Miles. Just saying.
yes, Lane Kiffin proves he is really George Costanza and is parked in the handicap spot.
while exhibiting the professionalism and maturity we are seeking in a head coach at Alabama. Go Back to the Grove, COACH!

That's the big question mark with him isn't it?

He's basically been out west his entire head coaching career.

Saban made a lot of very difficult things look easy...

I would be hugely surprised if it’s DR. I just don’t see a “winning” (and apparently very satisfied) coach leaving a pro HC gig. He’s been an assistant in the pros for a while.
Would love it, just don’t see it.
How quickly could he adapt from the NFL to the current Recruiting, NIL & Portal? We need someone who can be a master of Recruiting/NIL/Portal! Would Coach Saban educate him to deal with Recruiting, NIL and the Portal.

Now I know he could MOTIVATE players and have a great DEFENSE. And the Texans OFFENSE is totally different from last year and very good with a first year QB. I haven't even noticed who the Texans OC is. Seems like he has the Texans MOTIVATED to WIN.

Hmmmmm. Seems like there's a lot of disfunction in the Texans' Ownership family. Son vs Mother.... (See yesterday's Houston Chronicle.) Could this have an adverse effect on DR? Probably not. Now I think they do have a very good GM. Look who he got in last year's DRAFT!
