My take on @AlabamaFTBL QB situation after being on campus: Ty Simpson best positioned to be starter, but has to go win it. Hasn’t done it yet. Austin Mack is battling and has some real support among players. Keelon Russell most talented of the three, but a freshman. Legit race

After being convinced Ty was going to run away with the job I now think each players' development over summer is going to be key to the final result. Ty clearly still has a solid lead though.

I'll be completely fine if the players keep their mouths shut and not get a vote on who needs to be the starter. Let the coaches put the guy out there who they think is best and you play your butt off for that person. I hope this is something that is addressed. We don't need more Indians, we need a Chief!

I hope to never witness another LANK situation where only certain players will only perform for certain QBs.

On Mac and Cube this morning they said they don't expect any announced decision until the week before the FSU game unless someone is just running away with starting position.

I know this is a reaction to the previous situation but I think its good players voice their opinions. In fact I think its very important. The players have their opinions even if they aren't voicing them. IMO it's better for them to be voiced (in an appropriate manner) than for it to be left unsaid.

That said, they obviously should play hard for whoever the starter is regardless of if it is their preferred starter or not.

I for one am pretty sure we do NOT have all the facts.
Sometimes, indeed, many times, when you see something that just does make sense, we can either believe the actors are stupid or there was more to things than we know.

They know they need to have a bounce back season. they're going to play whomever they think will win them games. I still would bet on that being Ty.

I mean, it does - I 100% assumed you were comparing Ty to Matt Jones, the Arky QB, and couldn't think of a single reason why.

Reports out of camp say that mack has been struggling. Ty is getting in the groove. Kelon is by far the most athletically talented but the chasm in the learning curve is probably just too large for him to overtake Ty. I think Ty gets the nod, but any injury or performance setbacks and Kelon takes over

I think that unfortunately only 1 of the 3 QBs currently competing will be on next years team so it’s important we get it right this time.

Imo our best option/choice for 2025 is Ty. He knows the new system and is only lacking legitimate playing time and experience.

I’m not sure what’s going on with the QB2/3 battle because there are conflicting accounts.

I lean towards KR winning the QB2 role and if so I can see Mack hitting the portal asap.

If Mack wins QB2 we probably keep KR until at least the end of the season.

Management of 2026 will be dicey. KR would only be here if he either somehow took over this year or Ty played well enough to hit the Draft.

If Ty plays that well but decides to stay then other schools are going to swoop in with NIL offers for KR higher than we will match.

I’m a bit pessimistic about how that goes.

When you have a kid like Caleb Downs jump off the ship like a rat then it’s hard to have faith anybody will stay for less and because they want to wear Crimson.

All that said I hope Ty Simpson wins QB1 and has a phenomenal season.

Have to remember Ty couldn't beat out Milroe. Could be it wasn't his fault; maybe extenuating circumstances. Could be it was.

“All of them are getting better, which is what you hope and need and expect,” DeBoer told Tide 100.9 FM. “And for us as far as like – I know people want to know a decision and things like that – for us, it’s just we don’t feel like they’re to the point where there’s separation, where there’s a ceiling that they’ve hit.
