Question: Who to root for? Who wins? Chick-fil-A Bowl: UT v. VT

I still contend that it helps us if the SEC is seen nationally to be the toughest conference. There may not be a direct, immediate benefit to us this year, but it does matter over the long haul. It doesn't mean that I like any of those teams. I am a Bama fan and ONLY a Bama fan. It just means that I want our conference to be seen as the strongest conference out there so that in subsequent years, should we need it, the strength of the conference will serve as a "tie-breaker" in the court of public opinion. Furthermore, if those teams win, it doesn't really do anything to hurt us either. I suppose you could make an argument with regard to its effect on recruiting, but I don't think bowl results for the other SEC teams will make a terrible difference there.

This is a math contest to me. On a scale of 1 - 10 it breaks down like this:

Love for SEC +5 (guess I am a luke-warm SEC fan)
Hate for Kiffin -9 (not -10 only because nothing is a bad as it could be)

So, Go Gobblers.

I don't hate UT as much since Phat Phil left. Still though, I don't own anything orange, and can't pull for any team with that horrible color in their uniforms.

As far as the SEC goes, there are a lot of SEC teams that hate Bama so much they will say or do anything to hurt us. Screw them and the horse they rode in on.

I'll be honest, I don't hardly pull for any other SEC team to win ever. I don't care about all that "SEC is better than ACC" type stuff, or all the chanting of your conference in bowl games. I am an Alabama fan. SO the only team I ever want to win and that I pull for, is Alabama. With that said, I will never ever ever ever ever hope for UT/AU/UGA/UF/LSU (I'm probably leaving someone out, but you get the point) to win against another school. I can't do it, it's not in my DNA. VT allllll the way in this one. This is no disrespect to any fan of a school I mentioned that may frequent this board, but I bleed Crimson my friend, and that's just how it is! RTR!
 
Philip Fullmer still needs to publicly admit he is a lying, cheating, low down scum bag and lied to the NCAA about Alabama for personal gain.

I think someone already said it best, I will take the SEC victory if they win but I want VT to stomp a mudhole in them personally.. Mouth of the South is sickening and really gives the SEC a blackeye and add that to the fact that almost every VT poster we had here had more class than any volfan I know~!~
 
Fellows, i understand your disgust with former CPF. To tell you the truth I couldn't stand the man. He robbed us of so many years that might have been better had he been gone. He was a gutless, spineless , @#%^&, and so on and so on. However, I will say that me and my friends here in Vol Land are 100% pulling for Alabama against TX. Not only that, we are betting that it will be close until midway through the 3rd and then a blowout from there.

Roll Tide!!! Bring that title to the SEC!!

We have been to the Tennessee boards. We are well aware of how yall hate everything Bama. I hope Tech wins by 50.

I appreciate the support. My problem was always with Fulmer (and those who supported some of the stuff he did) - not with UT. I financed a daughter to two degrees from UT...
 
Although I also detested Fulmer and not necessarily UT, I will be pulling for Virginia Tech. They displayed a lot of class when we played them early this year, and I'm always for seeing Kiffin get humbled (though I'm not sure that's even possible).

I'm not a huge fan of the rest of the SEC. I want to see Alabama do well, and I'm not that concerned with the well-being of the rest of the conference.
