I'm guessing that there wasn't really much difference between Sessions and Tubby???
I'm also guessing that Jones has a huge uphill battle in front of him.
Not really. But Trumpies are butt hurt about Sessions recusing himself. I didn’t vote due to being out of town but I would have voted for Sessions just because it would make Trump and his minions mad.

Jones has a better chance of beating Tubby, but I think he loses.

I think had Sessions never ran then Tubberville wouldve been creamed by byrne. I really think Sessions screwed himself over by thinking that people wouldnt be stupid enough to vote for Tubberville and that Baldwin County would give him the win. Tubberville actually had a great ground game by understanding that the major cities would be out of the race since most would vote Democrat in the primaries so he went to all these podunk counties and rallied up the Trumpers.

Tubberville vs Jones the big cities will be in play and 4 are voting heavily for Jones. Will it be enough? IDK, but its going to be close

There is an interview of Tubby online where he explains masks should be left up to the individual and not required. He went on to explain that although he was in a crowded room after he won with no masks and everybody shouting...well, it was ok because he had worn a mask at his appearance earlier before the results came in.

meanwhile, Jones is having a website interview with Dr. Fauci on how to effectively get over the pandemic.(which would allow us to have football again, among other good things.)

Saban should endorse Jones if he wants the state and country to have the best chance of dealing with this, Tubby has disqualified himself with his own words.

Saban can do far more good right now by putting together commercials with Gus, both telling the state's residents that they need to wear masks. Air them everywhere, put them on every social media platform, send it to ESPN.

Jones has a major uphill battle. He will need unprecedented support. Let's break down the math based on the last general election turnout.

2016 General Election
Trump: 1,318,255
Clinton: 729,547
Total: 2,047,802

2017 Special Election
Jones: 673,896
Moore: 651,972
Total: 1,325,868

In other words, Jones needs a perfect storm of one or both of the following: low GOP turnout (slim/no chance), unprecedented YOUNG turnout (slim chance). Young turnout meaning ****ed off 18 year olds and new college grads who's senior year (proms, debauchery, graduation) were robbed by incompetent, callous Republicans

Now to that end, if you want Jones elected, I would recommend the following:

1. Find 5 people who would agree with his platform and work done to date and get them committed to voting for him and finding 5 others to do the same.

2. Get yard signs, bumper stickers, etc... offer to volunteer with your county Democrats. I'm currently volunteering in Madison County so PM me if interested. The AL Democratic Party has finally gotten new leadership and are 10x more competent than the previous folks.

Of the 2 million voters who voted in 2016, there are over a million other registered voters! 3,500,894 total!

Mr Jones appears to be a nice enough fella, but let's be honest: he's ONLY a Senator for one reason and one reason only: because of the pedophile allegations against Moore in the special election. In all honesty, Moore (insane nut that he is) likely would have won without the allegations (he nearly won with them).

Jones - and this is the only time I'd ever mention him in the same breath as Trump - is Senator because more people hated/feared his opponent. Trump is only President because of whom his opponent was (even though, yes, she got more votes nationally).

Biden doesn't exactly set the world on fire (a la Obama), and if he wins, it will be MOSTLY because he's "not Trump."

HSV256 is right - Jones maintaining his seat would take a "perfect storm."

As far as the whole "Alabama fan can't vote for Auburn," I think that's an insanely dumb way to go about things IF (key word here) that person is qualified to hold the job. I'm getting wary of celebrity candidates.

Just wait until Mark Cuban announces his presidency. He has said multiple times that it is life long goal to do so.

True story - about ten years ago I sat next to Cuban and his wife in Cracker Barrel. It was a Sunday morning, and he was dressed about like George Costanza when he wore the sweats.

Mavs sweats, of course.

We don't need any more businessmen in the White House. You'd think the failed Presidencies of Jimmy Carter, George W Bush, and Donald Trump would be a lesson writ large.

I don't care for celebs in public service either but Cuban is probably one of the rare exceptions for me. He seems level headed and wise enough not to be stuck in his own tunnel vision
Cuban can admit to being personally prejudiced about some things - and that self-awareness alone is a deep positive. The BEST posters on Tidefans have things about which they are prejudiced - but the BEST ones are also aware of that and attempt to overcome it, too.

I used to think that putting business "people" to work in Washington was a good idea but I've since changed my mind. Not because of Trump, although he has cemented my thinking. While it is true that business people would probably do a better job at managing our budget that's only one part of the job and they generally fail at the other parts. You can't run the government as a business, it just isn't. You can't just fire people, you have to cajole them into doing the right thing. You have to be a master at playing the political game. Too many business people don't have the patience for that.

IMO, the problem with executives is that almost all are narcissists. Studies show that it is almost a required trait to rise beyond a certain level in business. I don't mind having leaders with huge egos, but we can't afford another president who cares only about him/her-self.

They are also people-manipulating psychopaths...
