I sat thinking the last couple of weeks what exactly it was that allowed Alabama football to get into my blood so bad.

A lot for me was that everyone always thought Bama could never do much.

We were the underdogs so to speak.

My dad never had any boys....all girls.

I remember watching him when Alabama would play...and it was a chance for us to share something together.

We were military....so we traveled all over the place.

But watching Bama play...made us feel a little like we were home.

I am not exactly for sure what is was...but I am glad it happened.:)

I was born in Druid City Hospital. My dad went to Bama and my Grandmother was a faculty member in the Speech & Hearing Dept. and she also worked in the Athletic Dept some as well....Bama IS in my blood!

I would have to agree...it is in your blood.:)

My dad. Ha. Truthfully, I didn't follow college football much until about 2003-04. I had gone to some Alabama games in the late 90s/early 2000s. My dad and I got season tickets in 2005, and the rest is history... :)

I was more into the NFL, and supported Texas more than I did Alabama. But my dad knocked some sense into me.

I didn't choose Alabama, Alabama chose me...lol Born in Florence and most of my family has always been Bama fans. Needless to say, I never had a choice in the matter.

I can't recall choosing, Being a Bama fan is all there ever was. Its like asking, why am I a human. because I am.
Oh I agree....100%.

I guess I am just a little different.

When I was younger...I mostly cheered for my father.

As I got older...I just never stopped loving them.

I grew up living with my Grandparents and every Saturday during football season I would see how passionate my Grandfather was about Crimson Tide football and even though I was just a little girl I too became a Tide fanatic. That was back in the bear bryant days and I can still hear my grandpa cheering today!! Still gives me chill bumps!!:BigA:

My parents. Big Bama fans. Still are (both in their 80's).

I can remember staying up late and listening to Bama shock USC and the world at 17-10 in 1971. I was 12 years ld at the time. I can also remember listening to the last-second field goal to beat an upset-minded Florida State in 1974.

I wanted to study Russian language, and couldn't afford to go out of state (thank goodness, in hindsight).

It wasn't in my blood, since one of my parents was a Purdue grad and the other a Furman grad. Neither was from Alabama, but somehow I ended up being born there and growing up there, and becoming a UA fan just kind of happened when I was about 7 or 8, a few years before I went to school at UA.

But following the 1994 SECCG loss to Florida, I tried to quit. The pain of that loss was just too much for me, and I didn't want to take it any longer. I failed. It should have been easier to quit. I was living in Virginia and out of the country half the time. But I just couldn't do it. It was in me too much. Sometimes during this decade, I wished my quitting attempt had been successful. The preceding generation had an easier ride with this than I have. The last decade has left me shell shocked. I shouldn't feel jittery about playing a 3-3 Ole Miss team in T-town when we are 6-0, but I do.

It was the passion my Dad had for Alabama. I can remember, as a young child in the 70's, how our entire family would gather around in the living room to listen to Bama on the radio. We had this "reverence", if you will. We dare not speak a word, lest we face the wrath of my father!

I can remember watching the 93' Sugar Bowl with him like it was yesterday. What an incredible night that was. I can remember the glistening tears streaming down his face late in the game. He said, "Son, I've been waiting so long for Alabama football to get back to this point."

Sadly, my father would be killed by an intoxicated driver just 3 weeks later; but now I have 2 sons and a daughter of my own, and it is certainly a wonderful experience teaching them about the incomparable tradition of Alabama.

I am a sap I know...but reading this brought tears to my eyes.

That truly is what Alabama football to me is all about.

What a great memory you have friend.
