Me too and I was born and raised in Georgia.I hope all the UGA players play and are at full strength. It's the first time in forever I'll be a DAWG fan.
Isn't the ACC contractually obligated to the Orange Bowl in this particular case...?One thing I'm seeing out there is ludicrous, and I'm not a legal eagle:
"FSU should refuse to play, when they're sued, they should countersue over the CFP."
There's this whole "the things we might find during discovery" argument out there...as if the CFP or the conferences or whomever DON'T ALREADY HAVE LAWYERS who can tell them how close to the line they can tread.
And again - the ACC had more relationships with people on the selection committee than the SEC did.
A former ACC player and AD (Gladchuck, and yes, I know they weren't in the ACC then), a former ACC coach (Grobe), and the Miami AD (Sayler) made up nearly 1/3 of the 13 members.
Social media has given people the illusion that they can change the world with their online protests and hashtag activism.Surely this is nothing more than rumor of the false kind, perpetuated by disgruntled fandom.
Remind me again - weren't they down 13-0 in the first quarter to the former Florence State Teachers College when their QB went down? And playing at home at that, not away at, you know, Goober Pyle Memorial Stadium...They knew when their QB went down and they rolled out two crap shows of offense the last two games what was going to happen wrt the playoff rankings. The over-the-top reaction proves to me they knew they were getting bumped.
Exactly. It’s really not even about the game itself. It’s about the culture and mindset you create. Life isn’t fair, so what. How you react to that is more important than the fact that something didn’t go your way. By snubbing the bowl or having lots of players sit out, you create and feed a quitter mindset, which will have long reaching ramifications.I thought they wanted to prove that they should have been chosen. I’d be playing that up if I were Norvell and the players. Seems like they are more interested in being victims. It’s already old. Look at Bam’s approach last year…Do that and prepare for the future!!!!
Yes!!!! They realllllllly need to think this through id they are indeed actually considering it. Big loss of money this year if they do, and would make for TERRIBLE optics for anyone evaluating them for future bowls/playoff spots. If they go through with this, it may have long term, if not permanent damage to a once prestigious program, and that would be sad to see happen based on a sense of entitlement. There could also be future ramifications as well if they do that, beginning as early as next season. People with power normally have looooooong memories and if they think they got snubbed by the selection process this season. Tick off the wrong people and you could see yourself getting "explained out of" next year's rankings, purposively given a lower ranking to make it harder.
Yeah, if we would have played Clemson instead of Texas, we'd be undefeated too!!!!!!!!!!Ah, it brings out the poet in me.
FSU is out of the playoffs
and they really see no uptakes.
"We're unbeaten!" they cried,
and the committee replied,
"That's what you get for playing cupcakes!"
I think Michigan would have probably preferred to play an FSU team with a back up QB, than an up and coming BAMA team. The committee got it right. Not to mention the Michigan AD, who would likely be far more biased towards FSU as a potential opponent than Bama.
Tell me about it. Like the Rose Bowl boycotting us for 7 plus decadesPeople with power normally have looooooong memories…
Yes, and not only would the ACC likely sue them for damages, but the SEC, Disney, and major sponsors would as well. And if they’re looking to change conferences, skipping a bowl game, especially a NY6 one, because you’re butthurt wouldn’t be a good look.Isn't the ACC contractually obligated to the Orange Bowl in this particular case...?
Even though the ones still alive are close to 80 years old?The 1966 Alabama team says Hello............. And that team would probably beat the Noles even today
Nobody is going to boycott.Even though the ones still alive are close to 80 years old?
Seriously, I don’t think they boycott. If they do, it could make a mess for UGA. Think that helps their SEC chances?
Exactly.Interesting that this has 3 pages. I've not heard anything over on the FSU boards (I am a member of the Osceola (Rivals)) about a boycott since someone posted last Sunday. I've seen more smoke about leaving the ACC sooner than later. A lot has to do with the fact that there were 5 members on the CFP committee with ties to the ACC. Most think that a "boycott" is irrational and they would just lose money. Seems like more click bait for Pate and the other talking heads.
Press Conference was cancelled because both coaches were out doing other coaching duties per Rivals.Exactly.
They were mad, understandably, and saying stuff they didn't mean.
Well, I should say, fans who view their college football teams as extensions of themselves (another issue) were angry and wanting to cut their noses off to spite their faces, but I never heard anything about it from anyone tied with FSU.
Did it ever dawn on anyone maybe there was a Covid issue is why that PC got canceled the other day? Or a potential one? I mean, there's plenty of reasons besides, "they're thinking of boycotting".
