Game Thread: World Cup / USMNT Chat Thread

Good to see Norway got through to the last 16 and Manchester City's Erling Haaland scored another goal although I'm not sure how much he knew about it. He has now scored 25 goals in 13 appearances for his national team. Keep on rowing lads!

Being English I am very pleased we made it to the semi-finals against Argentina. That being said, I thought the ref in the Norway game seemed to favor us more than the Norwegians. I also want to add that the game against Braut Haaland and his merry men was conducted in a brilliant and disciplined manner. At the end of game with the Norwegian players obviously feeling terrible, Haaland put his arm around Bellingham and talked with all his City team mates in an amazing show of sportsmanship. No wonder he is thought of in such a positive manner by the U.S. public.

They were teammates at Dortmund and good friends.

Today is the day! England v. Argentina. The media have covered some of the angst with Maradonna's hand of God, sendings off, etc. What has not been covered was the quarter final between England and Argentina in 1966. The Argentinian tackling on that day was so brutal (by standards at that time) that the Argentinian captain Rattin was sent off and at the end of the game, Alf Ramsey, the English coach, would not allow the English players to shake hands with any Argentinian players which he called "animals" By today's standards the tackling on both sides would have resulted in multiple players from both teams being sent off. None of the players for today's game were born and then there was the Falkland islands. Carlos Tevez refused to learn English because of that little war.
