Oh, some say, the Alabama job isn't what it used to be. You can't win because of all the meddling. Please. On his first day, Saban would be the most powerful man to hold that position since Bryant. Nobody will challenge him. Nobody.

I heard Barry krauss on tv the other day. He indicated that the alumni are getting impatient with the delay in the hiring of a new HC.
As much as I respect Barry Krause, and some of the other great players, this, IMO, is exactly what is wrong with our program.........lack of strong leadership. The type of leadership that will not be influenced by what BK, or LJ, or anyone else wants, but remains focused on what is best for the University.

he's just buttering you up, buddy. He's whispering sweet nothings to you, then he's gonna take your purity from you and leave on the street corner, crying and sobbing and saying "I thought he liked me!" (read:he'll leave you yelling and cussing and posting on Tidefans "He hates BAMA!")

Oldest trick in the book.

BEWARE finebaum bearing gifts! As soon as he slides down the chimney, he'll pull a skunk out of his bag. Don't trust him or anything he says.

Ol' paul will do anything to get back in to your head.

With all due respect, I am an alum and I am getting impatient too, but we will all just have to sit back and wait and see how all of this plays out.

the problem, as I see it, is that so many people have gotten on here ticked off about what "Finebaum said" or "Finebaum wrote". Okay, fine, then don't listen or read him. Now, Finebaum is supposedly "telling it like it is" and it's okay to read him or listen to him right now. I know it's a message board and people are only posting their opinions; I just can't figure out people's obsession with what the little rat has to say.

I think I'm more patient at this moment than any other in recent Coach search history.

Finebaum can occasionally make sense. That is a pretty good article.

Give the man a break. The constant attacks on Finebaum because he is not a Bama homer are pretty ridiculous. Yes he makes me mad. Yes he says some things I think are wrong or even stupid. But his life's mission is not to undermine us. He calls it as he sees it. Sometimes Alabama does the right thing. Sometimes we fall on our face. Sometimes he praises us. Sometimes he blasts us. Coincidence? I think not. Read the article. It is dead on.
Nice!!! Finbaum nails it with just about every article, whether folks like it or not. Some here just like pumping sunshine too much to agree with anything negative he has to say about Bama.

With all due respect, a lot of alumni are upset and impatient because pipelines of information have been shut off... and they are as "in the dark" as the usual guy on the street. Have no doubt that it's a good thing though.

Regarding Finebaum, remember that he only paints one side of the picture... I believe there are a lot of reasons why he would choose to stay in Miami. The top of the list possibly is the fact that he most likely will have a better working relationship with an owner than he currently "enjoys." It's been "oil and water" in working with WH.

I think some of you don't know Mr. Finebaum at all. Paul's mission isn't to tell it like he sees it, or to enlighted people to the truth. If you actually listen to Paul's show for a while, and talk to the man, you quickly realize his sports IQ is pretty low. He doesn't really understand college football as it is played, in fact, he doesn't really know a whole lot about sports in general.

Instead what he does is he gauges what will get the masses of fans in this state to give him the most attention. Is it honey? Is it vinegar? He pokes at the fanbase until he gets the greatest response for himself. He doesn't care about spreading the truth, because he doesn't know what the truth is, and he doesn't care.

That is why, if you pay attention, you catch him being a hypocrit. Take the 2004 season as an example. Mr Finebaum before the season told everyone on his show he expected Alabama to win 6-7 games. Fast forward to the end of the season, he was saying the year was a complete failure, that the team failed to succeed the way they should have..blah.blah.blah. Well we finished with 6 wins, just as Mr. Finebaum predicted.

The best thing to do is not listen. Trust me, once you turn off his station you quickly find that you aren't missing anything. And on those rare occasions you check in to hear what is going on, you will ask yourself how in the hell you listened to that garbage for so long.

Not to go too far off subject, but this simple question has always bugged me

How is it a tennessee graduate ends up as the most vocal on-air commentator regarding Alabama Football?

Listening to his show the day of the Rodriguez debacle was torture. I tuned in because i thought i would get breaking news. Instead I was treated to disgusting commentary regarding CRR's wife and her hairstyle of all things.

Not only are alumni "impatient", but so are the fans. Bamarich is exactly right. People are getting impatient because they are not getting reliable information on a regular basis. I completely agree with him, "it's a good thing".

Advice to the masses (as if I were qualified to give advice, or that the masses would actually listen to me :)), please try to realize that the lack of information is not a bad thing. It does not mean that nothing is being done. It does not mean that UA can't find a coach willing to come here. It doesn't mean the search committee, or MM, is flopping around. It simply means that they have wised up and clamped down on leaks to the media. I, for one, am very glad they've done that.

the only think I don't like about Finebaum is he NEVER has any information - He is entertainment not a journalist - It's fine when people want to be entertained but when they think he has knowledge or anything that is what bugs me

Paul does not know the people he would like for his listeners to think he knows

Entertainment value = 'A' - knowledge/information = 'D'

Finebaum does have connections. Cecil Hurt is probably the only guy in the media that has better connections than Finebaum in regards to Alabama.

I'm glad to see that many posters here know the real deal with PF. He is a promoter. He promotes himself and sports radio is just his vehicle. He really knows very little about sports. He knows the most about college football, but that's not much. He's lost on basketball, pro football and I think he really hates baseball at all levels. I listen to him mainly for his guests, which are usually interesting with glaring exceptions, like Dye. He has few connections, He's an entertainer, not an authority.
