I remember a while back where CNS was interested in attracting two sport athletes as he did at LSU. I would say White certainly fits that bill! :BigA:

This is a big time recruit right here and speaks volumes for our national stature to pull this young man in from deep in Texas.

Everything I read starts with he runs precise routes, speed, then athletic ability. You know the play diving into the end-zone reaching the ball over the pylon??? He can do it from the 10.

Grant has publically stated more than once that the he is solid to Bama. Obviously I don't know what Grant is going to do for sure, but I have not seen any indications that lead me to think that the he is anything but a solid Bama commit.

DeAndrew White has publically said that Bama was his favorite or one of his favorites for a while now. He has been a priority, highly sought after, talented WR prospect in this class and in no way seems like a replacement for Grant. Not to mention Grant is a RB/Slot Receiver and White is a WR.
I think that if White is replacing anybody on our commit list, it would be K. Malone. And I think in the end, we'll hold on to him as well.

I'm not certain White needs to replace anybody, WR is a position most teams bring in many in each class, because it is such a hit or miss position. A lot of these guys have the speed and size to play either in the slot or out wide or the other side of the ball. I think if he's "replacing" anyone it may be some of the other guys we thought we may get like Vincent Sanders, because even if we were to get Allen there was no reason to think we were done at WR (however should we get Allen now after this commitment, I'd say its a wrap).

Welcome aboard Mr. White, you made the right decision.

Not very likely my friend... K. Malone has been lighting the 7-on-7's up this yr. I can't find the article talking about his 7-on-7 performances right now but I will keep looking. Airborne or Crimson Surfer, may know right where it is but I can't remember.

I agree WAW...I knew White was looking hard in our direction, I just didn't quite get the feeling he'd end up here. Its great to get this kind of talent out of Texas. I know Texas got on him late, but a lot of teams that do well in Texas was after him the whole time and we got him. RTR!!!

Just so everyone knows where I'm coming from (not trying to stir a pot that's already been brewing), there's a fact that is not so well-known about how CNS recruits in regards to making visits to other schools.

CNS is about relationships... not only between coaches/recruits but also in the recruit-recruit department. He greatly encourages current commitments to do all within their power to form bonds with other targets on the board. Hence, it's not unusual to see some of our committed guys visit other places. On the trips, they can take in the scenery, enjoy the ride, AND build bridges w/ some of our other targets along the way.

Factually, I know some our guys are encouraged to take visits to other places for that very purpose. Thus, when I hear that one of our commits is visiting a rival school, I always wonder if it's being done for this reason... or is the dude actually interested in changing schools. When I think it's the latter, I look for something that happened along the "Robert Marve" situation. Marve's deal, in everything I remember, was that he would be the only QB taken in the class... and when he showed signs of backing out, Saban promptly went to plan B and pulled "coming back in the same situation" off the table. I think he would have taken Marve back... but Marve was going to have to accept the fact that CNS would not trust him enough to put all his marbles on one QB.

Now... apply that to today. White commits and in the process seems to fall in the same category as 3-4 other current commitments. I automatically wonder if something has happened with another one of our current guys... and I look for the most likely possibilities. BTW, I personally do believe Grant is taking a second look at things for one primary reason. IMO, he's a clone of T. Grant... and outside of Saban's first year, Grant has not found a place in our offense either at RB or WR. If I'm CG, I have to be concerned about that fact... and I also have to look at a place where they currently have no problem working a guy like myself into the playing rotation early in his career. JMHO

Speed, speed, and more speed! That's what Mr. White brings to the table. He can fly! Great pickup for our offense. Welcome aboard DeAndrew!!! RTR! :BigA:

This kid is way fast with good hands, I can't wait to see him team up with Phillip Sims.

I get the felling there won't be many spots left on NSD and those that are there will be reserved for a couple big time recruits to add to the rest of this big time class.

I see Corey Grant with the potential to be a punt/kick returner and a role as a 3rd down back. I think he has the elusiveness that T. Grant does not have.

Excellent point, and one that I think has been overlooked by most.

Well if Corey was coming here to be a running back, well I could see why he'd be a bit scared looking at Terry. But he wants to play receiver, and let's be real here...just because we want Terry Grant to be a slot receiver and hasn't worked out there should mean nothing to Corey. Besides, Terry has only gotten to practice in the slot, what? 1-2 weeks?

And I think Corey has the skills and frame and deceptive power to be much more than Terry Grant, and maybe Prothro like as an all around weapon for us out of the backfield, at receiver and in the return game.
