There is a thread about this on the Football board, but obviously this development may have a real recruiting impact as well, so it deserves discussion here as well.

Please just keep this thread focused solely on the recruiting fallout / developments associated with this news. For all other OM program discussion -- nature of violations, rumors as to sanctions, impact on their team and on-field expectations, etc. -- keep that on the football board.

Any of our targets canelling their visits to Ole Miss?

With the news breaking about the NCAA charges, I was wondering if any of our targets had cancelled visits this weekend...:cool2:

(Can Mods please correct my spelling on thread title?)

Could happen, but probably too soon to know it.

Would not think this causes many defections from their current ranks, unless some salacious allegations start being talked about, but you have to imagine this makes it more difficult to win the last-minute toss-up battles. As it relates to 'Bama, this could very well have an impact on Brown, Simmons, Pennamon, Knott, Hall, and Carter.

Coach Saban & Lupoi met with Terrell Hall at DC airport before he flew to OM for his OV today...I wonder if they knew about this at that time?

Given the latest on the Bears, what would the odds be that any of these kids visiting Oxford this weekend will sign with them?

I am not sure the Saban is wired such that he would bring it up even if he knew.

ESPN articles claims that most of the football allegations predate CHF's tenure which may give OM a little wiggle room. The Laremy Tunsil situation is the one he/they has/have to explain.

Saban has enough assistants and others that he can take the high road. You know the recruits are all over the internet and calling UM and asking what is really going on. If I got a we cant talk about it. I would rethink is ole miss a good fit.

More than that and there will be a second letter from what I'm hearing.

Had a Ole Miss grad tell me the same thing. He said there is the possibility of more allegations to follow involving the current staff.

I thought the timing of the letter was curious to say the least. It's almost as if the NCAA is sending a message to recruits to stay away..

I remember when CNS announced that Bo Scarbrough would have to sit out the first four games for a situation "related to amateurism" but made it clear it had "nothing" to do with his situation with Alabama.

I remember toward the end of Bo's recruitment Ole Miss made a hard run at him. I wouldn't be surprised if the folks in Oxford had something to do with that situation. I have no proof, but wouldn't be shocked if it turned out to be the case.

The one good thing about this, whether or not anything comes of this it can have a direct effect on at least THIS recruiting cycle.

If I was the parent of a recruit being courted by Ole Miss, I think I would have some serious questions. My understanding is that the Ole Miss administration and coaches have been expecting this for some time, to the extend of already seeking legal council.

I wonder how much, if any, the coaches have "shared" with recruits about this situation? Certainly there had to be some coaches out there negatively recruiting against Ole Miss saying "the NCAA is looking hard at them". The question had to have come up. So what were they telling kids if it did?

And if I had a kid committed to them right now, and had no inkling this was coming, I would be fit to be tied.

They knew but wanted to hide it until after Signing day. They already got some guys on campus and others that would be in a Bo situation if they don't go there.

Uhhhh duh! You know the Ole Miss coaches are telling recruits that the ncaa investigation was expected and that they are anticipating a good resolution that will have very little impact on the program. This will possibly effect next year's recruiting class more than this one.
