Not sure what the official name is, but it's the kind found in SE Asia. Maybe other places as well. The bananas are shorter and fatter than the version we get here. Sweeter too. And instead of four, five, or six to a bunch, they come in like a million to a bunch.
Got to shake the hand of another Marine veteran tonight. And tell him thanks for his service. This time it was at Winn Dixie. I was in the express lane and even though I was way under the item limit he only had a bottle of dish washing lotion.
So of course I asked if he'd like to go ahead of me. He hesitated and then took me up on my offer and said thanks. I made a comment about not wanted to get in the way of keeping a nice tidy kitchen and he laughed and said that's the way he was taught by his Mom.
I said: me too!
He's a NSB native too. Enlisted in the Corps during the VN war. What an honor it was to get to meet this man tonight.
Oh - before leaving I mentioned the recent news story about the 101 year old WWII vet who was taken up in a WWII vintage plane just like the one he flew in the war....that brought another big smile to his face.....
Just got back from the dentist. The dental assistant gave me some Cobia she and her husband recently caught. I have to go back next week for a crown so will return the favor at that time with a container of my incredible delicious homemade chicken veggie soup!
There's a monthly farmer's market at the town center in my neighborhood. The themes are various - petting zoo, BMX exhibition, a geographic theme, etc. This month, it was a Polynesian theme. After watching the exhibition we visited on of the approximately 70 vendors. We bought some fresh bread and a few dips and salsas.
