BREAKING YouTube.TV drops Disney/ESPN/ABC & an alternate

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

GE Flat Panel Indoor HD Digital TV Antenna, Long Range Smart TV Antenna, Supports 4K 1080P HD Smart TV VHF UHF, Extendable Dipole Rabbit Ears, Adjustable Stand, 5ft Coax HDTV Cable, 33681

I've had this one on hand for a while just in case my internet goes out for non weather related issues.

I've also used it a few times i just didn't feel like setting up my PC to my TV to stream (apps don't run smooth on my smart TV).

Last year and this year every single Bama game except for one has been on ABC and that antenna picks it up no problems.

The only minor issue for me is it's only 720p but it still looks pretty good.

You can get it at Wal-Mart for about $19.99 usually.

I tried a local antenna in a window adjacent to the TV. It received interference so I picked up a full sized interior HDTV antenna at Best Buy for $35 -$40 range. I have it in my garage at the highest point run through a cable connection to the TV. We receive perfect reception with no delay. I have mentioned previously that I purchased a Tablo device which allows recording and playback of any programs including games that we wish to record from the antenna. I have no plan to go back to YouTube TV which we joined when it was originally offered.

DirectTV did it last year in the middle of college football season! I had that then.

I'm always on the wrong thing with these contract disputes!
Disney has to ultimately monetize ESPN and make Disney Plus an attractive package which it has now become with ESPN assets added. Disney has long been grappling with this and has little interest in enriching Google on their on dime. Google will be forced to pay up in order to get the package back. I would expect that a lot will depend on enrollment of the new Disney + ESPN package.

The timing screams greed and leverage... 😖

What idiot opened/signed /agreed to the possibility of this happening in the middle of the most viewed time of the year...?😳

Whoever reviewed/recommended/approved that contract needs to be immediately fired!🧐

They do it so that it gives them both max leverage. They both believe they're 100% in the right and depending on how the public perceives it (and possibly takes action like our own @crimsonaudio did earlier today in canceling his YTTV) somebody will give in.

Think about it like trolls beating on each other about who controls the bridge that the hobbits are going to try and cross.

You can’t win. They will do this with every single service, just a matter of time. Then your bill will increase, and on and on and on. I think last year or the year before ESPN and YTTV had a dispute like 2days before the playoff games, which got resolved before the games started.

Don't you just love it when two media behemoths' battles injure the little people like us that they're supposedly trying to serve?

This will, obviously, get resolved sooner rather than later. But at least, for now, you're going to have to watch ESPN & ABC some other way.
Won't be long before it's "Death, Taxes, and Disney leveraging sports coverage to jack up profits..."

I actually left Spectrum for YouTube TV in 2023 because of this very dispute. Now....two years later....the recommendation is "go back to Spectrum". I'll give it until the morning of the day of our game against LSU. One week from tomorrow. If it STILL hasn't been resolved....well...I may just go back to Spectrum...bad as I don't want to do that

This is every single season now. And there is no escaping it. Soon there will be carriage disputes between Disney and all the others services as well. Funny how this never happens in the dead parts of the year. Like...that little stretch between college basketball winding down and MLB preseason games starting up. Or the end of the college world series and the beginning of the college football season. It's always right in the heart of the college football season

Yes you can. Cancel them. Don’t look back. If enough people do it, they will change. Regardless, you win because you are no longer way overpaying for a substandard product.
