Remember: Common sense is a super power ... Prime examples are in the halls of Washington and the NCAA. The responses to this will make it worse rather than better so that these yahoos (NCAA/congress) can say they've done something "for the 'student-athletes' "
Name CNS as NCAA Czar. Let him go to work and knock down any barriers to common sense reform. Give him 2 years of absolute totalitarian control then let him go to the beach.
Schools that want to exist under his reformed rules can do so or take a hike.
Players that want to play under his reformed rules can do so or take a hike.
Mamas, Daddies, Aunts and Uncles that want their kids to to play under his reformed rules can do so or take a hike.
Collectives that want to operate under his reformed rules can do so or take a hike.
Give them no other options. This is what it's going to take to actually make sensible change.
But it won't happen because... bureaucracy and "rights".
If they don't go along with this then the result should be no sports scholarships for anyone. No paying of players for any reason and then just say "good luck." Earn your scholarship through academics or go home to mama and see if she'll pay you to play in the backyard. This might actually be the result that makes the most sense to clean everything up.
