Why is AJ taking other visits? I believe he is going to Bama, but just curious to why these kids take other visits? If I were the coach and I knew this guy was taking other visits, then I would go after another highly profile player just in case. Bama needs another QB and I know these kids have fun on their visits, but if he visits other schools, then Bama needs to visit other prospects for QB.

If you were making the biggest decision of your life, which is what these 18 year old kids are doing in choosing a college, would you not have a plan B?

I would take my other visits too...

This is a once in a lifetime deal. Let them enjoy the recruiting process. They are treated almost like royalty on these visits with everything paid for.

I wouldn't be worried...

AJ has already said in any interview that is 100% bama unless Saban gets fired. He also said Saban told him to take his visits, and that he's just doing what Saban says. He said Saban told him it was a once in a lifetime oppurtunity and he should enjoy it.

Sorry I don't have the link, it was right after the AL/Miss all star game.

"Sometimes, they go as undercover agents and recruit for Bama on their visits. Think about it...
" <- Also a good point, he's taking alot of his visits on the same day as Rueben Randle.

McCarron reshuffles official visit schedule
Scout.com's #15 rated quarterback committed to Alabama some time ago but has been flirting with other schools by scheduling official visits outside of Alabama. The Mobile resident was originally scheduled to visit Ole Miss this weekend but those plans have changed.

"We were going to Ole Miss this weekend, and Alabama last, but I could not get off of work last weekend so we are going to Alabama this weekend," stated AJ's father, Tony McCarron, by text.

I think A.J. McCarron is an exceptionally bright young man as is Rueben Randle, two like minds connecting perhaps for the future. They both know life in college will be a whole lot brighter if they do it together. Roll Tide

Re: A J McCarron

I am sure this goes on but hopefully not encouraged or condoned....
Yes, CNS encourages the Bama commits to take their visits if they want to. He also wants them to recruit other Bama prospects to Bama if they get the chance. If you don't think they sell the programs to each other then you need to pay attention more to what they are saying to each other and to the media.

These official visits are fun and the expenses are paid. Why not take them?

I understand that it goes on but there is something about being encouraged to do so that would bother me personally..... Example: I don't think UA would appreciate it if Kiffin sent David Oku on an official "mission" to sway Janzen Jackson or Patrick Patterson away from UA in favor of UT. That just seems unethical to me....

If I had an indication that a kid was doing such while on my $$ I would send him packing immediately....

A.J. is probably the last commit anyone needs to even remotely be concerned about, he's all Crimson.

Let 'em take their visits, after all it's the only time they'll get to experience it anyway (assuming they qualify). I'm sure this is a big reason why CNS encourages it.

Re: A J McCarron

Not to be rude, but I think this is ALOT less shady than hiring a kid's dad to coach cause you want the kid to come play for you.
No offense taken.

There is a lot more to this story which has been blown way out of proportion.... Jackson's father has not even interviewed and Kiffin is in California for the birth of his son today.

The bottom line is this.... Monte Kiffin is in charge of hiring the DB coach and 1 player is not going to influence such a valuable coaching position. Especially when our secondary is already solid plus the addition of EG in 2009.

I just don't see this happening fellas....
