Appears to be a good pickup. We are going to be absolutely loaded at the WR spot for years to come. But, I must confess, what struck me as odd is that he only had one other offer that I am aware of --and it was from East Carolina. Talk about flying under the radar--this kid hasn't gotten a lot of attention. But....Just the fact that WE got a verbal from him probably means other programs will start seriously evaluating him now. No one evaluates raw talent better than Nick.

Welcome aboard, Ronald!

I'm optimistic that the coaching staff is stock piling speed and athletisim but my one concern is one julio and a ton of guys with barely half the body strength he has... Is efficient enough to compliment our strategy.. If and assuming our goal is to become an elite rushing school with a consistent passing attack... than big physical WR's should be our focus not these small flicks.. But if Lord Saban wants him.. than I'm thinking he must be pretty damn good or have extreme upside... I know his numbers aren't impressive and his list of offers are less imposing... But what Saban says goes... Welcome to the Crimson Tide family and RTR!!!!:BigA:

the smaller wr's will most likely be slot wr's run cross the middle make play's in space. ex like (maze and hanks). 2010 commits they will most likely redshirt to bulk up a bit
saban has recruited bigger wr's 2009 signees bowman and kelly and continues for 2010 da'rick rogers and markeith ambles and others

seems that saban wants big and physical players but also speedy athletic playmakers

Welcome aboard Ronald. And you're right, it doesn't get any better than Alabama.

I too am surprised at his commitment. I am glad to see that CNS has seen enough to give him a commitable offer this early but what does this do to the total number we take at WR. Does this jeopardize getting any of the instate guys like Patton or Richardson as well as another amazing GA athlete, Ambles?

Anybody know the target range for WR?

I'll second that. Very nice speed and acceleration.

I like the fact that we've been after him hot and heavy since he camped last summer. His athleticism is pretty evident from these clips, but it looks like our coaches saw some things that other schools/recruiting services haven't seen yet. ESPN definitely seems to like him, though.
give it a week. his stock will fall drasticly on ESPN. once they realize he's wearing crimson anyways

He may not be very well known right now but once more video of him starts to make it out that will certainly change IMO. And like it's already been mentioned, if CNS offered him early and took a verbal from him early, that should give you a pretty good idea of this kid's talent. I think we all know the kind of talent evaluator that CNS is, end of story IMO. :)

Welcome aboard Ronald!!! :BigA:

I think the patton ship has all but sailed to florida or lsu. I'm still holding out for Richardson and Ambles, but I would really like to get Da'rick Rogers if he is going to qualify.

I don't believe our staff is all that high on Patton. No doubt he is a talented player but we just have guys we like more on our board. I think they really like Patton as a return man but maybe not as much as a receiver.

I would love to round out our WR with Richardson and Ambles and call it a day.

Ronald Carswell Quote

The following is a quote from the Scout.com article:
http://alabama.scout.com/a.z?s=14&p=2&c=854501

"It’s Alabama. They are one of the top programs in the nation. It wasn’t going to get any better than Alabama. I like how they play football. They are the biggest team in Alabama. They don’t have a pro team. It’s all about the Crimson Tide."
I Love it!!!! Poor Barners!!! Oh wait! Never mind! This is something we have known for a long long time!!!

You know, this train is probably leaving the station early this year. If Mr. Carswell jumped as soon as he had a committable offer, I would say that he is showing wisdom.

Welcome aboard, RC!

What this selection says to me is that it is one more evidence of what separates Saban from other recruiters. The end result of Saban's recruiting process is a team with chemistry. This player has something that Saban saw in the camp, an intangible, in addition to ability.
