I know these units will not be on the field at the same time, but let's compare from a talent perspective.

QB - Mcelroy vs Jefferson - They have put up similar numbers this season so far. Jefferson seems to be getting better while Mcelroy is getting worse. Jefferson can also beat you with his legs, which Mcelroy can't do. Advantage LSU

RB - Ingram is a heisman hopeful this season. He has been carrying the load for Bama. LSU prefers to split up the carriers between Scott, Williams, Holliday, Shephard and Ridley. Ridley and Shephard have looked great lately. Sure Bama has Richardson and Upchurch, but these groups as a whole are even. Push

WR - Julio Jones is having a down year. Tolliver has stepped up to show he is top tier guy. Take that with Lafell and Rueben Randle and LSU has a major advantage here.

O-Line - Neither line is too impressive so far. LSU has been doing a poor job of pass protection. Mcelroy has been getting banged up as well. Push

D- Line - Terrance Cody is a monster and to be feared. Other than that, Bama has no guys to be scared of. LSU has Alem who is a great speed rusher. Drake Nevis is a solid run stopper. LSU rotates a lot of guys on the d-line to keep them fresh. Push

LB's - Hightower being out for the year really hurts Bama. Mcclain is the best linebacker on either team, but Sheppard has been playing stellar lately for LSU. Also, Harry Coleman has come on strong lately especially on blitzes. Slight advantage LSU

Secondary - Javier Arenas is solid, but undersized. LSU has one of the best shutdown corners in the country in Patrick Peterson and one of the best safeties in the country in Chad Jones. Advantage LSU

Special Teams - Both teams have dynamic returners. LEigh Tiffen is a tried and true kicker. Josh Jasper has stood up to the test as a first year full time place kicker. Both punters are solid. Coverage is very good for both teams. Push

Coaching - Both coaches have a bcs championship. Saban had a 48-16 career record at LSU. Miles has a 49-12 record at LSU. With the addition of Chavis to the defense, you have to give the slight advantage to LSU.

Score Prediction LSU 24 Bama 14

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..............okay........if you say so! Keep dreaming. So you are saying LSU has advantages in all of those categories? You are honestly thinking that Jefferson is a better QB than McElroy because he is mobile?? You think that Scott and LSU RB's are better than the leading Heisman candidate and true freshman Trent Richardson?? Our O-Line is giving up about 1 sack a game so the edge is even there?? Don't think so. O-Line and D-Line is advantage Bama and so is the LB's. Don't get me wrong Sheppard is an okay LB but nowhere near as good as McClain is. Your post is a joke. Miles in a slight edge in coaching? Haha that is hilarious.

lol and people think bama fans are homers....

D-Line: Have you not seen Marcell Dareus play this year??? we have 22 sacks while yall have 10 this is no where near a push....

LB's: Mcclain wins this category on his own......

QB: i would call this a push, Jefferson has looked good the last two game against Tulane and Auburn, not exactly known for their defense...... and he has a hard time reading coverages, Greg has been no better the last few weeks but still Jefferson has not proven to be superior against any kind of talent.

RB: Kind of the same as QB, Scott has looked good against two of the worst rush defenses you will face all year and Ingram splits carries as well and is still dominantly beter than Scott....

Coaching: please.....even the most die hard LSU fan i know would rather have saban than Miles and i believe as the next few years go you will find out why (if miles lasts that long)

Otherwise I agree, but at least provide some statistical facts for some of your outrageous claims.

why would my analysis need luck? That makes no sense.
I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt... that you did not come here just to stir up crap. Your analysis lacks intellectual honesty. LSU may win 24-14, but it won't because what you said was accurate. The only way that score happens is if Alabama turns the ball over 3 or 4 times, at least two of which directly result in LSU TDs. That's possible, but not likely.

Your analysis makes no sense and is as biased as it could possibly be; you really think your 100th ranked offense (with the POSSIBLE exception of receivers) is better than ours? As other poster said, good luck with that analysis...

You guys think your talent is worlds ahead of LSU. Here are the recruiting rankings the past 4 years:
2006 - LSU 7 Bama 11
2007 - LSU 4 Bama 10
2008 - Bama 1 LSU 11
2009 - Bama 1 LSU 2

That is pretty even. You guys aren't going to blow us off the field like you think.

JessN vs biglsufan: JessN honestly assesses teams' strengths and weaknesses, giving credit and blame where deserved to both his team and the opponents. biglsufan engages in wishful thinking, willful ignorance, and inestimable optimism while glossing over major issues and disdaining meaningful comparison.

Advantage JessN

I actually thought this was going to be a great breakdown...

But you picked LSU or push for every single position on the field. You obviously haven't watched us play this year.

Your OL is the worst (or 11th) in the SEC in terms of sacks...and we are the best. How is that a push?

Your DL is the worst (or 11th) in the SEC in terms of sacks...and we are the best. How is that a push?

Our LBs are arguably the best corps in the nation...how is that an LSU lead?

Wow...you really blew it man. Gonna be hard to sell us anything now buddy.

I guess we'll see Saturday...and we can revisit your "talent" analysis, too, while we're at it...
But, everything else being equal, it's our coaching that makes the difference...you should know that, better than anyone.
