Upchurch finally healthy

Alabama’s bye week was not only a time for the team to rest tired legs. Running back Roy Upchurch, who has been hampered by an ankle injury for most of the season, said he finally feels 100 percent.

“I’ve been struggling with it here and there, but I finally got it back to where I got my moves back and been able to go out and show what I can do,” he said.

“If my number’s called, I’ll be ready,” Upchurch said. “If not, I’ll just play the role that’s given to me.”
So my question is, what do you guys think about BAMA unleashing him on offense? It seems everytime he touches the ball its for good positive yardage, and i loved watching him plow over VT defenders like it was the scout team. Hes been such a non factor so far for us but at the same time can be so productive. With him being 100% do you think we might let him run wild on LSU?

We're very definitely going to see more of him...

Coming from you, that carries alot of weight. I have been hoping he would get back healthy, because I love watching him run. If he can't find someone to hit I think he is disappointed. Gotta love a tough runner that loves contact. RTR

When you say "Unleash", it brings to my mind just how many explosive players that we actually have that we can unleash. Now, they are not always 100% explosive but it just gives me chill bumps to think of all the talent that is on this team. I hope the 2 weeks also brings with it some tweaks that allows us to get to that level we saw in the first few weeks.

I'm hoping we see a fair amount of Upchurch and more than just on third downs. I really enjoyed watching him bowl over VT defenders.

As far as Peek, I would love to see him back but indications here have been that if he plays it won't be at 100%. We really could use him, but I'm not holding out much hope.

I can't see him getting any more reps than he's been getting. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve a good shot but it's mighty difficult to play him in place of Mark or Trent.

But I'm a big Upchurch fan and I wouldn't be surprised to see him make a big play on a screen pass or short route over the middle.

That is exactly what I was just thinking. I guess it would be to much to learn in such a short time frame though.
Just a bit smallish. Upchurch will probably come through with a big play against Florida that wins us the SEC Championship. He's a player. Something good will happen for him when least expected.

Don't know if was 100% for the UT game, but I really thought we would have seen him unleashed then. JMO! I hope to see more of RU as we hit our stride for the run.

You make an interesting point sip about fitting him into the rotation with Mark and Trent. One thing to remember and you touched on it at the end there, is the different dimension Roy brings to the table. He's without question our best blocking back and do you remember the play last year against GA when he caused the db to break an ankle? (figure of speech) Roy has some good moves in the open field for a big guy, or he can just run over them. I think having him back will add some of that unpredictability that we've been discussing on here for the last two weeks.
