I did not see this posted so if it has been I apologize. Any thoughts on Willis leaving? Do you think he will go to TT w/ wingnut or stay? If he goes any thoughts on who replaces him?

If he leaves it would be a shame to not really get a chance to see his coaching ability in action. No doubt he helped McClain become a stronger linebacker, but McClain was going to be an All-American no matter who was coaching him. And the other middle linebackers were rarely on the field due to playing so much nickel defense.

Nico seemed to be doing quite well and Tana was obviously pretty close to getting some playing time, so Willis can obviously coach. I just hope we get a real opportunity to see him do it at Bama.

First, try to do better with your thread titles. I've read, most recently on an AU board, that he turned Tubs down...

With Smart staying, aren't all the asst coaches in line for substantial raises? I would think if nothing else, the pay in Tuscaloosa would be much better than what TT can offer in Lubbock. It seems that the the administration in Lubbock is not into spending a lot of money (firing Leach the day before he was to receive that huge bonus), even less so for assistants...

I actually think Smart staying has some effect on Willis leaving. Ears said that he was going to hire the two coordinators this week and then work with those two folks to fill out his staff, so if he's offered anything to Willis it would only be logical that it would be a DC position.

With Smart staying at Bama, Willis knows he's going to have to leave to get a DC role... and even at Bama it's logical that he would be behind Sunseri should Smart leave in the future for a HC role.

Look... you don't win the BCS Championship and not lose some of your assistants to promotions, period. It's a sign that CNS is bringing in the best and building their skills. I'd look for him to move quickly to replace CJW with either an internal candidate or a great external hire. There will be a LONG list of coaches ready to come to Alabama to work with CNS.

I think you've come up with good reasons. As long as the money is at least close, I think he leaves. Of course, if both Sal and Kirby leave after next year, he will have lost a golden opportunity...
