As A Fanbase are We Unenthusiastic About the Capitol One Bowl?

I am very much looking forward to the game and with practice just started more info should be forthcoming. The Capitol One bowl is a great bowl for us outside the BCS bowls and Mich. St. is a quality opponent as a 1 loss co champ. The game is on New Years Day which I also like, Jan 1 games are the best IMO. So what if we have a lot of Auburn discussion going on it's a huge topic in college football right now and there is no use in trying to stop it. I would rather have members take a break from posting on tidefans than have them try to police what others post that is the job of the moderators. So bring on the Spartans and bring on the NCAA sanctions for Auburn :)

I think it is a perfect storm of sorts for the fanbase to be disappointed or unenthusiastic. We are coming off the high of last years NC...the Barn is now playing for it this year as the mist of a huge scandal hovers above...we had a chance to derail their plans in large part and we let a 24-0 lead evaporate...and we are playing a team that we have no history with. I hope the team doesn't look at it this way and can put our first true complete game together of the year and end it with a 10 win season. I think that would give us huge momentum as we finish up the recruiting season and move in to spring/fall practices. 12-2, 14-0, and 10-3 would be a really good 3 year run, and I hope the excitement for the game will build as it is discussed more and as it approaches. RTR!

I'm fired up about the game. Cannot wait to watch the faces of some guys around from MSU. For some reason they think they will win big.

I haven't really gotten fired up about it yet, but I expect I will very soon. I think that we all knew that we shouldn't expect another championship season with all of the inexperience on defense, but I think a lot of us got caught up in great recruiting classes and talent and forgot about the value of experience. It is hard to go from number one to a three loss season that includes a collapse against our biggest rival and not feel disappointed in the season. I am just hoping that we play to our potential and get our tenth win of the season. A ten win season during a rebuilding year would be great and speak volumes about where our program is.

I'm just gonna try and suck it all in before the season is over. Bama Football is what gets me by during the week at work. Come Jan. 2 there will be nothing to look forward to until April arrives.

Yet another "what's wrong with us" thread.

<sigh>
This one is valid to me. I've struggled to be enthusiastic since Bama lost to South Carolina in sickening performance on our part and the game of a lifetime for Garcia.(I bet he doesn't top that in the NFL! LOL) The LSU loss was another tragedy and the Iron Bowl just devastating. It does have a feel of here comes a fired up Utah but I hope Bama learned from that loss and won't repeat history against Sparty.

I think the problem is more in the line of us fans wanting it more than the team. I just feel that I'm more excited than the players. I think I'm gonna mosey on down to Orlando and hopefully find a ticket so I can get up in the stands and holler louder than any one in the stadium and see can't I generate a little enthusiasm amongst the players in Crimson, of course CNS might be so inclined as to generate his own brand of enthusiasm if he detects a player or two in practice that don't want this win as much as he does.

I am thrilled to death to be in a New Years Bowl Game playing a once beaten top ten team.

I remember how it's been a fairly short time since I could care less about the bowl games because Bama wasn't playing in one.

I'd love to win the national title every year but it's not going to happen.

But to win this game and to possibly move up to the top ten with a 10-3 record has me fired up. RTR!

I am super excited about the game. 1) because my family and my sisters family are going and it will be our kids' first bowl game and second Bama game. And 2) we are spending the week before at Disney!! It is a WIN WIN for us! RTR!!

I would love to go because West Palm is only a little drive away from Orlando, but it all hinges on whether or not my husband is having surgery done on his hand around that time. The only tickets I see left are not choice but I'd still do it. Where are ya'll sitting if you're going?

To state the obvious - we lost 3 games. This is a very good bowl for a 3-loss team. It's an exciting matchup, and the first game of a brand new rivalry.

The thread title might contain the suggestion that this bowl and/or the opponent is somehow "below us". Not at all - the bowl is a good result for a rebuilding year, and, trust me, the Spartans will give us all we can handle.
