You hear the saying that a team has the "Championship" hangover the following year. I think it's kind of true for the fans as well. Or it can be. I'd like to think that most of us have handled this year with class, and I can't wait to see how the barner nation handles next year.

Each day I get a little more excited and nervous. Bowl games give me the time to focus on getting the EOY stuff done at work before the Christmas vacation, then after that. pretty much all football..next week will start to feel like the end of August...waiting for the kickoff (which I will be there along with: my dad, my brother and my nephew - first bowl game for him)

We spent the first of the season ranked #1. Now we are 9-3 in a New Year's Day bowl. This should be a good game with a quality foe. I am looking forward to the game. Still ..... I feel like the air is hissing out of my balloon.

I guess I'm just getting older, but I don't talk about the game 24/7 like I used to. Got other things to do and other interests. But you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be fired up on Jan. 1st about this game.

I would love to go because West Palm is only a little drive away from Orlando, but it all hinges on whether or not my husband is having surgery done on his hand around that time. The only tickets I see left are not choice but I'd still do it. Where are ya'll sitting if you're going?
Could you hire a hand-sitter?

Absolutely NOT!!!! I'm SO VERY excited to see my beloved CRIMSON TIDE play!!! The game can't get here fast enough for me. I'm ready for the New Year and the game will be the kickoff to next season as far as I'm concerned. I just hope the players & BAMANATION are as pumped as I am!!! God, I love football!! Thank you lord for letting me be born in this great state!! I've grown very tired of all the other distractions and want our team FOCUSED on the PROCESS!!! ROOOOOLLLL TIDE!!! Gosh I'm all fired up now.

If we were playing Oklahoma, Notre Dame, or even Michigan with the same record Michigan State has, we would be way more excited. We have no history with them, but we don't get to choose who we play.
And least we forget Mich St has a better record than Ok, ND, and Michigan. I think this is a great match-up. Even better than the BCSMC game in my opinion. I know I will be watching and screaming for MY TIDE. I am too old to scream also.

I have been wondering what was going on with the Bama fanbase for the last few weeks. As someone who spent (two!) New Years in Shreveport with the team, and also rung in the NYE with the team in LA, I know which is better :) However, we aren't going to play for a NC every year, and we have to deal with the letdown. I will be in Orlando, and am excited. I am happy that the Capital One bowl is finally being discussed somewhat! I know practice started today, anyone know when the team heads to Orlando?

Yes I am very excited about this game, and would like to see the players that we are losing go out as winners! I never take games like this for granted, and would like to see our team carry positive mo into the off season! Roll Tide!

I just don't see the comparisons with '08. We had come so close to grabbing the brass ring, in CNS' second season. After the SECCG loss, there was a natural letdown by both fans and team. This year, there was a letdown, but it happened during the season. True, we may not have played to full potential, but that happens some years, no matter what the staff does. Given our record, this is a very good bowl and a good reward for the kids. In fact, I'd say that the reason we're in it is that most of the public, including the Cap #1 people think our talent and potential is better than our record. Of course the backstory has appeal as well...

I tend to agree with the OP. I know 'm not as excited. I'd like to be, but I'm still a little off put from the Iron Bowl. Them going to Glendale makes it worse. I'm hoping the team doesn't see it the same way.
