Depending on your age, being a bama fan is a long term proposition. I am very excited about about the Cap 1 Bowl. I will start a fire, make a few bloody Marys, light the grill, put on a brisket, ice down some cold ones, turn on the tv around 10 to watch parades, get my extra tv and set up so i can watch several games, root for my TIDE! Hell Yes I'm excited. Win or Lose- There's always next year as long as your breathing. Roll Tide!
BRISKET?!? Are you originally from Alabama? :D

Imo...it feels eerily similar to the Sugar Bowl year before last. Not much talk about the teams, coaches, player matchups, nothing about our practices or overall health. About the only thing I know on our player status is that Barron is out, but how is Ingram and Richardson's knees, and Upshaw and Marcel's ankles? It was obvious these guys were below 100% toward the end of the season. I could be wrong, but I'm not feeling that Bama vibe from the fanbase that we usually have and it feels just like it did before the Sugar bowl with Utah.
I doubt in 1980 the Tide felt the same after the goal line stand? The other post championship years I am sure fans had similar feelings. But as a fan base and knowing that we are stacked with talent to dominate in the near future, I am stoked. I am excited to play Jan 01. I think most of Tide nation is. Its amazing how excited our fans get a few hours before game time. I mean, I was at the Ga St game for god sakes. Trust me, In the pre-game warm ups you would have thought we were playing a top 5 team. We will be jacked a little more each day until New Years. Believe it. RTR :BigA::BigA::BigA:

There is a game? When?

:D

Seriously, though I've never really bet on bowls other than the title game because these games are truly meaningless other than to make a statement in regards to what your team is about. Now that is important to me, important to the staff, but is it important to the players? I know this game is bigger for Michigan State than us...even though we're two behind them in the loss column. It's their biggest bowl they've played in years compared to us playing significantly below the caliber of bowl many on this team were expecting.

It would say a lot about this team if they came out and gave a great effort win or lose because this was not what these guys were working for all year. This - in a nutshell - why I hate the bowl system. Everyone makes all these sweeping calls on conference strength when I'd say most teams don't give near as good of an effort in the bowl game as they did during the regular season. I'm not saying Alabama is going to be flat but everything about this has been "flat" since the Auburn game. No buzz from the public about the opportunity to beat a co-champion of a BCS AQ conference because truly the game doesn't matter. The only game that really matters in this state is the BCSCG because it really is the only game that matters to the whole country.

Going 11-1 in 2010, Michigan State had it's best season since 1966, when the Spartans shared the national title with Notre Dame. 1966 should have left a bad taste in every Bama fan's mouth.

That was only exactly 20 years before my birth but I was taught never to forget '66. So yeah, I'd like to see Alabama blow the hinges off them.

Heck yea, I'm excited.

New Year day. Against a one-loss Big Tenlevenwelve team. A chance to end the season with a win. Extra practices for lots of people who will be contributors in the 2011 season.

It wasn't long ago that we would have been thrilled to be in a bowl game such as this. Probably already been said, I know. Nothing profound or insightful. Only my perspective on the subject.

Roooooooooooooll Tide!
