There is a game? When?
Seriously, though I've never really bet on bowls other than the title game because these games are truly meaningless other than to make a statement in regards to what your team is about. Now that is important to me, important to the staff, but is it important to the players?
I know this game is bigger for Michigan State than us...even though we're two behind them in the loss column. It's their biggest bowl they've played in years compared to us playing significantly below the caliber of bowl many on this team were expecting.
It would say a lot about this team if they came out and gave a great effort win or lose because this was not what these guys were working for all year. This - in a nutshell - why I hate the bowl system. Everyone makes all these sweeping calls on conference strength when I'd say most teams don't give near as good of an effort in the bowl game as they did during the regular season. I'm not saying Alabama is going to be flat but everything about this has been "flat" since the Auburn game. No buzz from the public about the opportunity to beat a co-champion of a BCS AQ conference because truly the game doesn't matter. The only game that really matters in this state is the BCSCG because it really is the only game that matters to the whole country.
