Most important thing to watch with BC is going to be the people around him... that's the reason he switched in the first place. And honestly, LB is a place we can miss if it turns out the competitive thing is right.
Come on now. Just because you disagree with a post or posts does not mean you have to call out the poster.Sorry, BET, but to borrow your terminology, let's call a spade a spade. You're criticizing a kid based on the very assumptions you accuse others of making. In fact, you, like the rest of us, don't know if CNS wants him back or not. You don't know if he's on campus as a formality. You don't know if he's dead set on carrying the ball. And as best as I can tell, you don't bring any special inside knowledge about Brent or his family.
So why don't you take the advice you're giving the rest of us and not jump to conclusions, particularly when it comes to criticizing a teenager.
You don't have to know all these things if you know people who do... and you would be surprised to know who knows things on this board. :wink:Sorry, BET, but to borrow your terminology, let's call a spade a spade. If things weren't contentious enough, you had to add the Regionator into this discussion for the second time. For the first time in a long time I might actually share a majority opinion. Which is I was extremely disappointed when he flipped; and, if Saban offers him a scholarship and he takes it, I will be happy he reflipped. Watching the hand wringing at the Barn would be worth it right there.
Same for Spencer Region. Well maybe.![]()
Oops! My bad. Thought I was just kidding. Better sign off here and go get a toddy.:redface:If things weren't contentious enough, you had to add the Regionator into this discussion for the second time.![]()
Right next to yours and mine. You OK with that, Chop?youre right lets build him a statue.
Vitriol when he switched and then vitriol when he may have second thoughts. This recruiting season can't end soon enough.let him switch if he wants.
I can see where you're coming from if he ends up at Auburn. If he switches back to Bama, however, then it has to mean that he has accepted that his future is on defense, since from all accounts our coaching staff has been very honest with him on that point. Jimmy Johns did not commit as a LB.I never said Calloway wasn't a very talented player. Obviously he is, and admittedly he could be a legitimate star at linebacker or strong safety. But none of that matters the least if the kid is hellbent on playing tailback. We've seen this movie before. We know how it ends. Remember Jimmy Johns? Even without the blow, the kid was a bust because he spent three years refusing to play the position he needed to have been playing all along. Calloway will end up just like that if he insists on playing tailback.
Brent is wrong about the numbers game on the defensive end, but truth be told, if a kid is looking at competing with six guys on one team and four on the other, he's not a coward for playing the odds.I don't want a guy afraid of competition. However, if his attitude has changed, I wouldn't mind having him. It'll be interesting to see how he develops in college. He is perfect size for a safety right now and has great speed so far, I wonder where CNS sees him.
No and 'if' it happens with Calloway he will not be the last.Let's see....we wanted him when he originally committed.....some of us don't want him if he flips back to UA....I'm curious.....assuming he does flip back, is he the first kid to have done that?
Couldn't have said it better myself. Aside from the Trooper Taylor nonsense and whole 'wanting to play rb' flap, remember, it's NOT WHAT he did but HOW he did it that rubs so many of us the wrong way, just like the Region kid. He basically went out of his way to embarrass us on national TV--THAT he did not have to do, and I don't think you can just write that off to youthful brashness and immaturity. It was coldly calculated and pre-meditated.Good grief, not this garbage again...
I'm just going to be brutally honest on this one, this kid is wasting his time and everyone else's time too. Until he gets it together mentally and matures, he's never going to be a meaningful contributor regardless of where he signs, and if he's legitimately hell-bent on playing tailback he's going to be a bust even notwithstanding the issues between the ears. He'll either be a middling tailback or he'll get buried on the depth chart at tailback and the pout and quit when someone tries to move him to linebacker. Again, he's just wasting everyone's time.
I think you guys know I'm not one to unnecessarily call out someone , but I'm going to be brutally honest here and call this one a spade: Calloway is basically a slightly more talented Spencer Region. Nothing more, nothing less. And just to be honest, I hope the kid ends up at Auburn. We don't need this kind of junk at Alabama, and as well as we can recruit I'd bet quarters against pennies that we could get much more value out of this scholarship just by waiting and signing someone else in the 2012 class.
