Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

How much better would it be to have 2 LT's that swap in and out and stay fresh? You talk about beating a defensive line down, WOW!
I guess you could see that, being that one is a JUCO transfer and the other is a true freshman, but it's unlikely to see the starter not play the majority of the snaps once someone wins the job. Offensive line play is so much about repetition and consistency, not to mention communication with other 'line mates (especially between the LT and LG protecting the "blindside"). I'm not sure how Coach Stoutland does things, but usually starting offensive linemen are the last guys to be subbed.

You definitely don't swap in and out LTs. Lines are units, not individual parts. An OL isn't the same as a DL.

I think we get Cyrus, but I was wrong before and could be wrong again.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

I think you're right if the kid was more than likely going to be "the starter" from day 1. But I'm not sure anybody is ready to go ahead and step out on that limb with Douglas on campus. If Cyrus turns out to be the stud many are saying he could be then if it takes him a RS year to become that stud then it is very likely we don't get three full playing years out of him. With players looking to jump to the NFL as quick as possible it is hard to plan and/or recruit with a 3-4 year window in mind. Because many of these kids are only on campus for three years then you have those that RS (Sydney Rice of USCe comes to mind) that leave after their RS Sophomore year. I'm not saying I don't agree with you its just become harder and harder to realistically plan out that far with any sort of accuracy.

Oh, I understand that. There are lots of talented kids that look NFL ready that can't grasp the system and other mental aspects of college football, but Cryus just looks and seems the part. If you tried to create the ideal LT to recruit, he wouldn't be too far from that blueprint.

And from the way Coach Saban was talking today during his press conference, it really seemed like they felt that the LTs they pursued were guys they felt could come in and make an impact at LT right away. Being it as a starter or spot duty from the get-go. Coach Saban just doesn't seem comfortable with the tackle depth right. But if that's the only position where we can say that, then I think we'll be fine.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

If I am correct, both Calloway and Cyrus made official visits without the presence of their parents/guardian. All of sudden, there is a switch to the Barn. I think maybe a similar episode happened with Region too. I think AU preys on certain recruits they want. They quickly find out if the parents/guardians are into a PFP. Some are some are not. My guess is the ones they want whose parents are wise to AU's tactics and not interested in participating are encouraged to come on an official visit alone where they are show "The Plan". These kids are overwhelmed with "The Plan". These recruits are specifically told to keep their decision a secret to everyone and then make the announcement to all at the same time. The reasoning behind this strategy is the PR pressure would be too much and the parents would just go along with the players decision.

For these select few recruits whose parents wont play along, there appears to be an extreme defiance strategy employed by AU. "Its your decision." "Its your life - your parents arent paying for your education so you ought to be able to go where you want to go." "You need to come here where you will get the attention you deserve." "Everybody gets a little something under the table - you need to get what's coming to you." "Why do you want to be told where to play - you need to play where you want to play." "At Auburn, we put players first - we take care of you, make sure you have everything you need." "Why do you want to play in your brothers shadow?" On and on and on...

All of sudden these kids think they have been mistreated their whole life by people who care about them. Honestly, AU is promoting a gang mentality down there because its that same line of thinking that gang use to lure new recruits.

Lol, and if he picks the Barn tomorrow he sucks.

I gotta say I always looked at Cyrus as a Bama lock. Now that there's the possibility he goes to the Barn, I realize how much I really want him. I hope he talks with his family and makes the right decision for him preferably switching to Bama. Yall think we hear something tomorrow?

I haven't spent much time accusing Auburn of misdeeds, but it's funny how the parents of Calloway, Kouandjio, and Greg Robinson (from Louisiana), didn't like how things went down. In all three cases the kids went to Auburn without their parents.

This is a solid post, but until any facts come out regarding Auburn PFP, Im going to simply say that I think the barn has really solid recruiters and are offering immediate playing time. Are they shady and unethical? ABSOLUTELY.

Good to see ole Walt Williams (Agent/Runner for Aubie) posting on Cyrus' facebook

I have no clue about PFP but Trooper is dirty as they come as far as I am concerned. I do not understand how you recruit a player without the parents. CNS is known for recruiting the parents just as hard and the recruit, but Auburn does not bother with the parents. That would lead me to believe they do not want the parents to here what they are saying to them.

Anyway I wish Cyrus the best and hope whatever decision he makes he has no regret with.RTR

I totally agree, and I know for a fact that Trooper is a piece of trash scumbag. Auburn is the most unethical recruiters in the business, and outside of a couple of years with different coaches (ie: Tubbs and Bowden), they always have been. CGC is an excellent lap dog, and does what he's told. As posted above, Walt Williams posted on Cyrus' FB. That is stunningly unprofessional.

I ordinarily don't have any genuine feelings about a football recruit as a person; if a guy chooses Bama, I support him, if he doesn't, then I don't follow his career and certainly don't root for him at his chosen school.

Cyrus Kouandjio, though, seems different. Since Arie is at Bama, Cyrus is like family no matter where he goes. I'd love to see him at Bama, but even if he chooses AU, gotta wish him the best.

RTR, and good luck Cyrus!

Trooper is the worst out there. Why do you think he is where he is right now? The BOT doesn't bring in saints, they bring in mercenaries. The hired gun was brought in to close the talent gap. When the barn goes down he will be the sacrificial lamb. I am very happy that the coaches that left Tennessee are getting punished. Now it's definitely "All in" for the barn coaches. They can't escape this by getting the hell out of dodge.

ive rarely heard a parent impressed with Trooper Taylor, if ever. He is usually a turn off.

TT is really good however with handlers.

^^Check out the Walt Williams Facebook message. If he genuinely "read" Facebook comments to Cyrus as he claims, then I don't want anything to do with him anymore. We don't do business like this at Alabama, and we don't deal with runners/agents (ask Keenan Allen). Thank God we have a coach with class who does things the right way. I'm pretty upset at this situation now, and although it may not mean anything, I am considering sending an e-mail containing this to several media outlets.

edit - these emails have already been sent to several prominent media outlets, including SportsbyBrooks. Not by me, but just another piece of the puzzle in the Auburn web of shady recruiting.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

I'm hoping 'Bama gets him. We need him, and frankly much more than he needs us, as much as it pains me to say it. I'm confident he'll be a superstar at both 'Bama or Auburn and an immediate contributor at both schools as well. This isn't the caliber of player you can just replace and move on with like it's nothing. You miss here and it hurts very, very bad. No use drinking Kool-Aid to the contrary, just accept the reality.
Agreed. For Saban to mention the specific losses at LT in his presser shows how critical the situation is IMO. Douglas reportedly has great feet and is being counted on to supply talent to the LT position, but where is the competition to make him better. We lack those tall, agile guys with long arms. McCullough is a bit short, which effects his base when setting up in pass pro. Love has failed to impress. Fluker is just so big, not to mention still developing as an OL, that he is stuck on the right side. Arie is a right side guy, as is Boswell. I believe that B Jones is talented enough to move to LT in an emergency. Beyond those guys, all we have is Guards and Centers. I just hope Douglas has his head on straight, comes ready to play, and stays injury free. I honestly can't figure out why we've had such trouble getting OT body types. Here's to hoping that CK will contemplate all of the pluses that Bama has over AU for him and his family.

Looks like ole Walt became friends with him earlier today.. (on facebook).. you can also see on Walt's page that he's been bashing Brent Calloway's family all day for "not allowing him to make his own decision"... pretty comical.. but I agree if Walt is suddenly involved in any way with Cyrus I don't want him and I'm sure Saban will pass also ..but I don't think that's the case.. he's probably just cleat chasing as usual..
