Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

Oh, if you keep posting within the rules of the board (which I highly suggest you read) you'll earn your "tusks" ;) and be fine. We have one or two Awbrin regulars that pop in and out and they fit in quite well. Just keep it professional, civil and don't get caught up in emotions and decide to type. That's what gets most folks (Bama posters included) marched out the door.

That is very nice of you but it appears to others I am just a "troll"? Really confused as to whether I am welcome or not.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

If i was him, I would just fax a letter to whichever school i chose, and then just post it on facebook and be done...and skip the press conference. But I would think it makes our chances a little better...but i do hesitate to even guess at this point.

I know. I feel the same way. Why would he want to go through that again?

My aubie hubby thinks he's headed to Alabama. Hope he's right.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

But see, that is what I do not understand??? What do you mean "what went on"? I actually think it was pretty crappy for a kid to get on National TV, commit to a school, then take it back an hour later. I believe you would feel the same way. Why even do it? How does that cause a "stinking smell" on OUR program?

Kim,
While it isn't ideal for a kid to go on tv and commit to a school and then change his mind soon after, we do need to remember that these kids are 17-18 years old. They are given a major life changing decision with people constantly in there ear telling them different things that cloud their decision. I mentioned on this board in regards to Brent Calloway, when I was 17 I was making the decision between enrolling at Alabama or go into the Navy. I changed my mind more than once. I wished people, especially us adults would step back and realize how big this decision is and how hard itis on these kids. Truth is, he obviously wasn't decided but with the pressure of having to make an announcement on ESPN at a set time he made an announcement that he wasn't comfortable with.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

I have not posted on AUFamily since the week of the seccg. I decided to leave it alone and let you guys enjoy your run. A lot of Bama fans have not been banned such as myself. I was warned once and pled my case with TitanTiger and the poster I had a problem with was gone. Go figure that. I really think WarTiger does not need to be a mod there. He is an idiot and a lot of the AU posters think so to.

I meant for this post to be for kimipela!

I just got a call from my brother who works at the University (Auburn) and rumor is that the coaches are not very happy this morning - I believe that Cyrus is yours now. (this is JUST hearsay)

Like one of your posters said, hopefully this will be a wake up call to recruits to hold off like Clowney if you are not absolutely sure. Simple apology to both teams, and I wish him well!

Thank you to the kind posters on here. I would like to be able to post from time to time, but I will always have my own opinion! :)

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

Same here. I appreciate the contributions of rival fans. Except Auburn fans. They contribute nothing. On Cyrus, I have to think that he wouldn't call another press conference just to announce Auburn. I would think he would just fax in his letter.
I don't know what to think. I would tend to think that another PC is good for us, but he also may want to apologize to the Auburn fambly for his actions yesterday. I sure hope it is the first choice. I don't see Mr. Kouandjio finding out enough on Auburn in 12 hours to let his son bite that bullet. Plus, it was Cyrus who said he was having second thoughts and made a mistake. I am going to trust that he made the right decision this time. Roll with the Tide, Cyrus!!

Another thing that has irritated me is how many Boogs knew how to pronounce Cyrus' last name BEFORE they heard it on ESPNU yesterday? I would say 99% of them knew nothing about him except that his brother plays for Bama and it would be a huge steal if they got them. Boogs only care that they took a prized Bama recruit. They do not have any idea how valuable this kid is to a football team. It is all about the rivalry.

Welcome aboard. Read and follow the posting rules and you don't have anything to worry about.

Your account would have already been suspended if the mods had determined that you were a "troll".

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

To our new Auburn friend. I do not care what happened in the past, but as others have pointed out I concern myself with the present. I understand pushing the envelope but the the shady dealings of the Auburn staff in recruiting is a concern for any parent who has a child and for the protection of the players involved. Auburn sales family but yet does not include the family when Trooper talks with the recruit. Last year S Region told the staff he was going to commit to UA. They had UA banners in the place and the whole family wearing UA gear was shocked when he announced for Auburn and was upset how the Auburn staff misled their son. They were already planning to run an article he interveiwed for once he announced.

"I am going to Alabama," Region told Scout.com before the announcement. "My family knew that's where I wanted to go. They thought it was a good idea. Coach (Nick) Saban said to commit if I wanted to. Coach Saban was really excited. He said he has big plans for me."

Next G robinson from LA announces for Auburn. Shocked the family and everyone close to him. Even the grandmother comes out and questions the method by Trooper and Auburn. She even said they took him to Auburn without telling anyone in his family.

She doesn’t think highly of Auburn’s coaches, who she says “weren’t very intelligent.” She is especially not fond of Taylor, who she says “got a lot of lies in there when he was talking.”

Robinson, who won’t say where she wants her grandson to attend college, says she is also upset that Nelson and Taylor had her grandson take several visits to Auburn without her or his mother’s permission. At times, she says, she didn’t know his whereabouts.

“They were wrong for doing that,” she says.

Next B Calloway a long time Bama fan and verbal commit changes his mind in the last month. Without his parents knowledge switches to Auburn. His father questions his actions and goes on record that he is not a Bama fan but does not like the staff at Auburn.

"It blows my mind that all of a sudden it was Auburn or nothing," Winston said.

Winston says he's not an Alabama fan, but he likes the way the Crimson Tide staff approaches the game.

"They stick to business. You don't see their coaches high-fiving," Winston said.

Now Cyrus who even his father has said along with family believed it was UA until CGC shows up last week and Cyrus then goes to Auburn this past weekend after dealing with Trooper and next he decides for the Barn. Even his father is concerned because he knows nothing about the Barn.

The player's father said he was unfamiliar with Auburn until AU head coach Gene Chizik made a recruiting visit and the announcement caught him off guard.

“I knew about them only last week," Jean Claude Kouandjio. "They had a visit in my house last week. I don't know a lot about them.”

Prior to that visit, he thought his son would join Arie at Alabama

Sorry but atleast when CNS recruits he deals with the family not this back alley dealings that Trooper and the Barn are doing. You would think they would atleast try and inform these kids families their intentions. My take they are feeding these kids a load of crap and why they do not want their parents involved. Again my opinion but the evidence is pointing that way. Especially now when someone that claims they are a professional and when questioned last year about their involvement with Dyer and Mosley, remember Mosley the famous recruit with 10K in his hand photo, Walt Williams who pushed those 2 to Auburn. Everyone knows about his relationship with CGC and yet this so called professional is now posting on Calloway and Cyrus facebook and pumping Auburn propaganda. Sorry that is not professional and just shows you how low your staff has gotten. Again as a parent if the scum like Trooper or Luper pulled this crap with my children they would not like the outcome. But the picture is becoming clear why Auburn is now becoming succesful in recruiting and I haven't even mentioned Cecil or Cam. They should change their little saying we are Family to please no families allowed.

TitanTiger is a very reasonable poster and enjoys "lively conversation". I think everyone has differing opinions of the mods. AUFamily is a little more "civilized" than some of the other Auburn boards. We have one absolutely GREAT Bama poster on there and several from LSU.

I know. My aubie hubby decided he wanted "this guy" on MONDAY. He even asked me what I knew about him and how to pronounce his name. He knew I had been following him for a year. Monday, mind you.

Welcome, just don't confuse your opinions with rants or the big man wil let you know in a very unsubtle way that you messed up. lol.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

I understand that Cyrus and the family want to get it over with. However, I still suggest them take some time, and maybe take another visit to BAMA before they jump to any conclusion. They have time to make the right decision.

I guess thats fair. Except that a rival is routinely attacked there and the mods mostly ignore it or even add the the flaming.

I actually do not like Walt Williams so you are preaching to the choir there. I also absolutely LOATHED Bobby Lowder and was sure he would be the ruination of Auburn University. Like I said, I am not stupid, nor gullible. When Colonial went down, I actually laughed. Believe it or not, there are many "good" Auburn folks who always hated him.

However, the recruiting situation I have a different opinion. I think Auburn had always been a little "lax" in their recruiting passion. I think Trooper and Luper bring an energy to the team that we had not had in a LONG time. I also think a kid's decision on where he wants to attend school should be his own, not his parents or guardians. I know many of you do not feel that way, it is just my opinion for what it is worth. I honestly do BELIEVE that Brent wanted to come to Auburn and was forced back to Bama. I may be wrong, like I said it is JMO.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

Well why would he need another presser if he is going to the school he first said?

Does this help our chances?

devils advocate, he could just want to clarify or apologize for the delay if he is still going to auburn. RT had a conference yesterday as well, to announce his commitment to the aubs a second time, as did TR a few years back.

all said, I'm saying its 60 40 auburn, since he did at least pick them yesterday, but im not stressed out about it today.

Best post I've seen on this subject. Way to put it all in one post. Great job.

As the Mods on here will tell you, it isn't so much as what you say but how you say it. I have been on this site for a very long time and the reason I like this site is that it steers away from childish smack talk. With the growth of this site, especially recently with many new members, the tone has changed a little but I am confident that the mads here will reign that in. We do enjoy many posters that are fans of many differnet schools.
For new members or old members that do not post often, please familiarize yourself with the Tidefans policies.
