We have a very tough road ahead schedule wise so there's a lot of ball to be played.

But this team is a TEAM, and they are so much better than any Bama team I've seen in quite some time.

I'll be very surprised if we don't win 20 and make it to the dance.

I think we're almost a lock to win the West because I can't see any other SEC West team making up a three game deficit in the loss column. Arkansas losing at home by one point last night was huge.

I love Releford. That guy is a point guard!!!

And Green looks like a totally different player and human being since Grant showed him that he wasn't going to play until he learned to give it his all.

It's just good to watch Bama being super competitive again.

I remember Wimp Sanderson once saying, "To be a great team you've got to do the smelly things. Dive for loose balls, kill for a rebound, and get in their jock straps on defense"...

This team is doing that and I don't think they'll let up.

I like Grant. He was a perfect hire in my opinion. And I love his demeanor on the sidelines.

Plus, he's showing that he knows how to recruit BASKETBALL PLAYERS, and not just great athletes.

RTR!

It's almost like he's following some sort of "process" :)

Agree with everything you're saying Sip... actually excited about going to some games this year. First time in a while I've felt that way past the first month of the season.

I agree as well. When i watched us play last year, i realized that Grant was determined to make us:

Play harder
Play excellent defense
Play up tempo
Create Turnovers
Change our mind-set

You could see last year that in most games we would hang for a while due to our hard work and style of play. But then we always seemed to fade down the stretch though, due to severe lack of quality depth. Our boys were simply wiped out. But as Anthony builds up our depth, we are going to be a team to be reckoned with every year...a la the days of the Wimpster. I love it that we have a hard nosed coach who doesn't like to lose. Roll Tide!!!

The team I saw before Christmas is not the same team I am seeing now. I do not know if the SEC teams are that much weaker or if the "light bulb" has turned on for this team. And, this is a team. They play well together, people understand their roles and what is expected of them, and there is constant encouragement. You never see a player get down on another player. And, I have watched CAG. Watch him walk the sideline, walk on and off the court. I have noticed a definite confidence in the way he is carrying himself. After the LSU game I noticed him walking off the floor and he had this calm but determined grin on his face. I do not know what the rest of the season holds but when was the last time we could say that we had won 9 out of 10 and I think all 9 wins were by double digits and we led for 38 minutes on the road in the one loss. Been awhile but I am enjoying it.:biggrin2:

I'll say this..LOL....

I appreciate the basketball followers here because i don't know if I've ever seen less interest.

Would my fellow Basketballers agree?

Well, my interest is finally coming back after about 5 years wandering in the desert.

But will say this, it is actually refreshing to come over on this board and talk about something positive for a change. Totally unlike what is transpiring over on the other boards.

I also agree with all that has been said. Watching our team play defense is a thing of beauty. I just wish the Lakers could play defense half as consistently as Bama does.

Some of the old timers are missing.......like TRUCrimson, and others. They were fans, in good and bad times. What stresses me out are the hardcore football posters that either don't get the game, or totally freak when we lose a game, or if the other team scores more than 4 in a row......

Sometimes it's nicer when there aren't too many posting!

:)

I think we've only given up 70 or more points in three out of 21 games and two of those were at the beginning of the season.

As for the Lakers, I like their defense so far this year. ;)

I've been wondering what happened to TRU. If i couldn't watch or listen to a game I used to get my score updates from TRU's posts in the game threads. They were much more up to date than ESPN.com or anything I could pull up on a blackberry.

certainly is nice to read something other than auburn cheating or people freaking out over an 18 year old kid announcing auburn. This team looks good, and they are going to place high in the conference standings, but I'm not convinced we are a threat in the Dance.....yet. We certainly WILL be in the years to come!

Not a huge B-ball fan but do cruise over after football season. I have seen a few games and I think Bama looks much better this year than last. I hope that they continue to do well and don't let up. Hopefully they have "bought in" to CAG's plan and will "finish" strong. Roll Tide...and yes it is nice to take a break from the drama on the football side, however it is my first love.

I think that many left after being disappointed that the "rumors" about "Izzo or Calipari to Alabama" actually didn't come true! They may never recover.

They probably had no idea that we would have beaten Calipari and have a better record than Michigan State entering February. :)
